Two of Yorkshire’s best dining establishments have teamed up to offer a luxurious two-night gourmet getaway – here’s everything a foodie needs to know
Winter is coming – and it’s looking delicious. Known for its delectable provenance, Yorkshire is a region bursting with edible goodies from the land, seas and rivers.
This season, experience the finest that the county has to offer with a new ‘Yorkshire’s Finest Dining Experience’ at two of the county’s best properties.
Both The Angel and Burlington offer foodies a new reason to visit, with The Angel having gained its Michelin star last month, a year after Chef Patron Michael Wignall joined the team, and The Burlington having its new Head Chef Peter Howarth at the helm
Peter Howarth has enjoyed a stellar career to date, with a list of well-respected hotel restaurants under his belt including Gidleigh Park and The Latymer at Pennyhill Park, both of which held two Michelin stars and 5 AA rosettes.
The two Chefs became friends back in 2006 when Michael was Head Chef at The Burlington and Peter was Sous Chef, so Peter has now come full circle to be in the top role at The Burlington, a year after Michael’s return to the Dales.
The fine dining experience comprises of a gourmet tasting menu with pre-dinner Champagne aperitif included at both restaurant. Foodies will arrive in style too thanks to a complimentary chauffeur ride to and from The Angel, with The Devonshire Arms’ ‘Home James’ service.
As well as this, you’ll enjoy two nights’ accommodation at The Devonshire Arms, including full Yorkshire breakfast, and complimentary spa access.
The dish on The Burlington
The Burlington specialises in seasonal and ever-changing tasting menus. From home-grown fruit and vegetables from the Hotel’s own kitchen garden, to produce reared and caught on the Duke’s Estate, each ingredient is carefully considered from seed to fork within the seasonal menus.
Dishes are cooked and presented skilfully by Peter and his team, who pride themselves in delivering an exceptional dining experience.
The Dish on The Angel at Hetton
The Angel Inn at Hetton is widely regarded as the UK’s original gastropub. The ancient inn has origins which date back to the 15th century, forming the basis of hundreds of years of delicious dining and drinking.
Michael Wignall delivers food that wows on every plate, creating dishes that are full of flavour and underpinned by a contemporary, less formal approach to fine dining.
Famous for its food, as well as its warm, welcoming atmosphere – it has maintained a strong following among locals, and with customers from all over the world.
