Determined to offer adventure for all, TGA and the Lake District National Park are teaming up to help more mobility scooter and wheelchair users have the option to enjoy incredible places they previously thought were out of reach
The Lake District National Park turned 70 this year and already provides 49 ‘Miles without Stiles’ inclusive walks for people who use mobility scooters, wheelchairs or walking aids, or who just want a low-level walk. TGA is a family-run specialist that offers mobility products to suit all kinds of people and needs.
Specially designed for all types of terrain, TGA’s scooters and powerchairs are now supporting the national park to help everyone understand the well-being advantages of getting outdoors. Through the partnership, TGA’s products enable experiences that many may have thought impossible. Offering adventure for all, awe-inspiring views, tranquil lakes and remote rugged landscapes are all accessible with the right scooter and the right advice.
Many TGA scooter owners have already discovered the joys of the Lake District such as Mychaela Green from Kent who told us: “I really didn’t want to go home after visiting the national park with my friend, dog Nova and Vita scooter. I also took my Autofold scooter. It was amazing.
We did over 45 miles in one week and visited everywhere – we shopped around Keswick, picnicked by Ullswater Lake, saw the stunning Aira Force Falls and even had a go over rocky terrain near Rydal Cave. The new accessible trail along the old railway line between Keswick and Threlkeld was so memorable, flat and easy for everyone, really pretty. Considering what we have all been through during lockdowns, to get away was so lovely.”
“We got away from lots of people, sometimes walking for hours without seeing anyone. The views were breath-taking… I called it God’s own country, it looked like heaven in my opinion. Staying in a caravan in the middle of nowhere and being in vast open spaces on a scooter I had a ball. My Vita got me to places I never thought possible and around towns my Autofold was the best. Back at the caravan we could fold it up, so it took up little space. To sit and each your lunch on a fell mountain, surrounded by just sheep and looking down at a stunning lake is like nothing else on earth.”
For over 30 years TGA has been committed to keeping people moving. It has supported the Disabled Ramblers for a long time and this latest partnership with the Lake District National Park reinforces its aim to encourage people to get out and benefit from fresh air. The feeling of freedom that comes from exploring the park will be epitomised in a 90-second film that TGA has professionally produced with the Lake District National Park team. This emotive video provides tantalising glimpses of the joyous experiences that await, combining views from the accessible trails with suitable mobility scooters.
