This Dreamy Glass Eco-Cabin Just Opened in Waitomo, New Zealand

Talk about seeing stars. Offering guests a sustainable stay that doesn’t compromise on luxury, a beautiful Matū PurePod glass hotel suite has just opened in Waitomo, New Zealand

Following the world-wide success of New Zealand’s PurePod room launches, travel experts at New Zealand In Depth have unveiled the latest all glass hotel guest room – giving uninterrupted views in every possible direction over the Waitomo wilderness on the country’s north island.

The new Matū PurePod has added to the growing network of glass PurePod rooms that are spread across New Zealand, with the latest addition perfectly located for breathtaking views over the ‘King Country’ and the nearby famous Waitomo Caves.

Guests will wake up to stunning sunrises, accompanied by the song of native birds and when night falls, the big sky provides a magical backdrop, making every moment unforgettable.

Its fully glazed walls, roof and floor make guests feel like they are part of the landscape looking out over the tussock covered hillside located in the King Country region of New Zealand.

There is no better way to combine the luxury and comfort of a premium hotel room, with the ultimate connection to nature,” said Paul Carberry, New Zealand travel expert and founder of New Zealand In Depth.

As with other PurePod suites, the new space features a glass ceiling and walls and doors, giving the impression of floating amongst the beautiful landscape.

On a clear night, the sky lights up with stars and the milky way. On a stormy night, it is a truly magical spot, safe and warm inside the PurePod watching nature put on a show. Whatever the weather, or time of year, PurePod delivers an experience that brings you closer to nature, alongside the comfort and quality that every luxury New Zealand holiday demands.

To top it off, Matū PurePod is a glass eco-cabin rated 5-star for its quality of accommodation and services and Enviro Gold by Qualmark for its low impact on the environment. Running on solar power and using filtered rainwater, it is about as off-grid as you can get.

However, PurePod’s off-grid credentials have not compromised its luxurious feel. From exclusive linen on a very comfortable bed to radiators for cosy heating and a powerful hot shower, every detail has been thoughtfully designed to meet the high standards of a luxury retreat.
