Peaceful, poised and perfectly positioned for a holistic meets hedonistic holiday. Whether you’re a fitness fanatic or simply looking for a natural boost, experience all things wellness with a scenically serene stay at Pine Cliffs, A Luxury Collection Resort in the Algarve
In today’s fast-paced world, it feels like there’s always some new wellness regime being pushed our way. There’s always a new skincare craze, another health trend or some form of strict detox that promises to change our lives and leave us looking like Blake Lively before the end of the week. Hello rabbit food, goodbye freedom. But at the five-star Pine Cliffs, A Luxury Collection Resort in the southern coastal town of Albufeira, Portugal, it’s a different story. Guests are encouraged to tackle the world of wellness at their own pace – whether that’s a full on sprint or a gentle, meandering stroll.
With a focus on sumptuous deliciousness rather than strict dieting and a shift towards staying healthy and happy through gentle activities, exercise and spa time, this picturesque Portuguese property puts the fun back in fitness again, with a little something for every age group.

Tranquil and calm, this serene meets scenic coastal resort is ideal for those that love traditional luxury. Picture a pristine golf course, spacious areas filled with elegant furnishings, restaurants galore (especially if you’re visiting in peak seasons) and an abundance of health-inspired activities.
Wellness looks different to everyone at Pine Cliffs – guests can try stretching out at a group yoga class, counting sit ups at the Active Studio gym with a PT or simply ordering a freshly-blended smoothie at Zest, the on-site cafe serving up goodness galore.

Of course, this verdant property gets its name for a reason – step outside the main hotel and follow the winding garden path through to several wooden platforms, where incredible views across the burnt orange sandstone cliffs await. One of these also offers an impressively long set of stairs (or lift, for those with tired legs) to the sandy beach – where yet another restaurant and of course, the lapping ocean waves await. You’ll also find a myriad of pine trees throughout the 72-hectare of land, which bear more resemblance to fluffy emerald green clouds sitting upon stilts than the traditional bushy pines of the UK.
The Room

Set within a serene landscaped resort village, Pine Cliffs offers a variety of accommodation options – so whether you’re after a secluded couples getaway or a week-long getaway with the entire family, there’s a room key for everyone.
The 217 rooms and suites at the main Pine Cliffs Hotel, where the majority of guests stay, are classical and traditional in nature – featuring elegant furnishings and ample room for belongings. The property itself is set quite far back from the jagged coastline, which means only a few rooms offer sea views – instead guests can enjoy looking out across the verdant golf course and gardens when they pull across the curtains.
Authentic details bring the abodes to life – such as stunning Portuguese-tiled headboards dating back to the 90s, plus private terraces and balconies for some added sunset or sunrise ambience. There’s plenty of modcons as well, of course – think breezy air conditioning, large TVs, free wifi and enough light switches to power half of the surrounding town.
The vast bathrooms feel considerably more contemporary, with walk-showers, glossy stone floors and of course, the holiday essential – pristine fluffy robes which hang invitingly upon arrival.

For larger groups or families, there is also a collection of 148 generously proportioned Ocean Suites, located in a separate building with handy interconnecting options for family living. These one- and two-bedroom apartments come kitted out with relaxed living areas, fully-equipped kitchens and dining areas to boot, along with vast balconies and coveted direct access to Pinecliff’s Serenity spa – which at 1,100m2 makes it the largest spa in the entire Algarve.
For something more exclusive, guests can also book stays at 154 fully-equipped apartments, which are ideal for lengthier stays and nestled in a more secluded area of Pine Cliffs. With two and three bedroom apartments available, these larger abodes are designed to offer a homelike feel, featuring an expansive living room, fully-equipped kitchens and vast bedrooms – there’s even a laundry area, for those staying long enough to pack detergent.
A number of private villas, townhouses and other residencies are also available on-site, showcasing just how endless the accommodation options at Pine Cliffs can be.
The Food & Drink

Ideal for foodies, Pine Cliffs offers a spectrum of restaurants which makes mealtimes not only diverse but delicious, even during quieter seasons. Whether you’re clinking Champagne glasses by the cliff edges or sipping coffee in the sunshine, the edible opportunities at Pine Cliffs are as vast as the property itself.
Start the day by delving into an American-style breakfast buffet at Jardim Colonial, where everything from fresh fruit platters to plates piled high with cooked food awaits you and your appetite. For those that love all things healthy, Zest can’t be beaten. This trendy cafe sits tucked away in Lemon square, with a menu brimming with nutritional goodness. From avocado toast through to juices, smoothies and acai bowls, if you’re looking for your five-a-day, you’ll find at least twenty at this chic contemporary-styled cafe.
Ideal for laidback meals at lunch and dinner, Corda Café serves up a range of international dishes (picture everything from poke bowls through to sizzling fajitas) with a team of friendly and welcoming staff. On sunny days, sit outside at Sea Square to soak up the Algarvian atmosphere – the wine list makes an excellent accompaniment, but there’s a range of non-alcoholic options too.
For the true gormands (or Gordon Ramseys in the making) MIMO Algarve at Lemon Square provides guests with the ideal opportunity to hone cooking skills and try different gastronomic experiences. Take part in cookery classes with the expert chefs to master local Portuguese cuisine or simply pitstop for an espresso and nose around the gift shop. In the summer season, MIMO Algarve keeps its glossy doors open late for wine and nibbles at its outside terrace – whilst those seeking something extra special can try the ‘Chef’s Table’ experience, where a fine dining menu complete with wine pairing awaits.
Much like the accommodation choices, the list of edible opportunities is extensive at Pine Cliffs. During peak seasons, there’s an impressive total of 11 different eateries to be sampled, including SÃO RAFAEL, a scenic breakfast spot open to adults-only, beachfront restaurant Maré at Pine Cliffs Resort for casual coastal bites and for something authentic, O Pescador, which serves fresh food from the sea with an emphasis on local catch and produce. If you’re a Japanese fan, you’re also in luck – Yakuza by Olivier Algarve has a reputation for being one of the best Japanese restaurants in the Algarve, with a menu absolutely brimming with specialties.

2 Pampering sessions at Serenity Spa

Additional treatments can also be booked for an additional cost – say hello to CBD massages and a range of signature specials, where locally-sourced ingredients are incorporated into a range of expertly soothing facials, massages and more. serenity-spa.com
3 Run the golf course (or play a round)
Rise and stride. Pull on your trainers and head out for an early jog around the golf course, which makes excellent terrain for a gentle morning outing. You’ll need to beat the golfing rush hour, so avoid heading out later than 7am to enjoy a burst of sunrise cardio without any flyaway balls.
