Kimpton Rome Hotel Planned for 2029

IHG Hotels & Resorts and Castello SGR have signed an agreement for a 114-room Kimpton hotel in Rome, expected to open to guests in 2029

The hotel will be owned by Castello SGR’s Rome Hotel Development Fund, whose sole investor is 1AM Rome Prime Real Estate Development Fund. Tomas Langaitis is fund partner and Luca Tomesani Melotti is principal at 1 Asset Management.

Located in Rome’s Via Veneto area, the property marks IHG’s third hotel in the district. The project will convert an existing building into the 114-room hotel.

Plans include a rooftop bar, restaurant, internal courtyard, wellness facilities, and meeting and event space. An existing theater in the building will be restored and converted into a multifunctional arts and events venue.

The Rome hotel will be the second Kimpton property in Italy, joining Kimpton Villa Miramare Taormina. IHG has 14 open Kimpton hotels and six in the pipeline across Europe.

In Rome, the hotel will join nine existing IHG properties, including InterContinental Rome Ambasciatori Palace and Six Senses Rome. Hotel Alexandra Rome, Vignette Collection, is also listed as an upcoming property.

IHG recently surpassed 50 open and pipeline properties in Italy. As of June 30, 2026, the company operated 33 hotels in the country and had 21 additional hotels in the pipeline.

Opening 2029. Further details to be announced in due course
