Insider’s Look at Spa Space at Gilpin Hotel, Lake District

Calling all wellness worshippers – Gilpin Hotel & Lake House in the picturesque Lake District has opened the doors of the new Spa Space – here’s everything you need to know for that next weekend getaway

No robe left behind – the opening of Spa Space at Gilpin Hotel ensures that both properties have their own spa offerings, in addition to the existing spa suites available. The new Spa Space has been specially created to ensure a calming and tranquil flow through the whole space, creating a sensory journey with naturally scented and textured wall coverings.

Designed to bring the outside in, a natural indoor/outdoor feel flows throughout as guests enter to an open bright meadow scene leading to a cool dark impression of woodland in the textured treatment rooms, complete with natural stone in the steam and shower rooms. Outside sit two hot tubs nestled in Garden Arwen and created with the roots and stumps which fell during Storm Arwen. Here, a variety of woodland grasses reflect the floor, with woodland ferns to the north and sun-loving sedums to the south.

Gilpin has embraced local producers and uses PURE LAKES products, a husband and wife team based in the heart of the Lake District, alongside ESPA holistic products.

Pampering treatments include an ESPA Gilpin Signature Experience, Hot Stone Reviver and Indian Head Massage, as well as a specially created PURE LAKES Walkers Ritual – a treatment designed to relax and soothe the legs and feet.

The new Spa Space is housed at the Hotel, alongside which sits 14 individually styled boutique guest rooms and suites, as well as two of the property’s restaurants, Gilpin Spice (Aakash Ohol) and recently renamed SOURCE run by executive chef Ollie Bridgwater which has just been awarded a coveted Michelin star.

Known for its luxurious abodes, the grounds are also home to six large open-plan Garden Suites, five Spa Lodges and five Spa Suites. A mile away sits the 6-bedroomed Lake House with its own spa and Knipe Grill at Gilpin Lake House, which has recently opened under coal chef Tom ‘Westy’ Westerland.
