Historic 18th Century Tower Reopens as Luxurious Accommodation in Puglia

Blending contemporary furnishings with archaic furnishings, guests can now plan an exclusive Italian escapade at Tower Elvira in Puglia

Italian adventures, anyone? Following a magnificent (and meticulous) restoration project, Tower Elvira has now opened its doors to guests in Puglia. With a mere handful of four uniquely designed suites, travellers can drop their bags and stay in the 18th century tower and ancient masseria.

Set on St Elia Ridge, the historic lookout tower offers unrivalled views of citrus groves, private parkland, a 40sqm swimming pool with colonnaded sun loungers and nearby sister residence, Castle Elvira.

Providing residents with the utmost exclusive luxury and exceptional service, the Tower Elvira team is on hand for all the guests’ need – organising tailored experiences that range from culinary classes to portrait experiences and even exquisite parties for a special occasion.

With design and art at the heart of this unique property, owner Steven Riseley employed a team of local architects and specialist artisans to assist in the respectful restoration of the two historic structures and surrounding gardens.

Suites blend modern, state of the art technology and contemporary design details with a subtle mix of antique furnishings and design elements, ensuring the design remains authentic with a contemporary twist. Each of the rooms feature carefully curated art works, including a selection of new pieces by Elvira’s resident artist Harvey B-Brown.

Originally built in the 18th Century, the property was thought to have been created as the lookout tower for the Saint Elia Monastery. Nowadays, the views are just beautiful within – step inside to enjoy two suites with star vaulted ceilings, supersized Timothy Oulton beds and exquisite design fixtures. The ensuite bathrooms feature powerful rainfall showers with luxury fittings from IB Rubinetti, plus a sunken bath in the Park Suite and hand carved sandstone bath on the private terrace of the Top Suite.

The ancient masseria meanwhile features two beautifully designed en-suite bedrooms sleeping up to five guests. Each suite boasts a private garden with barbeques for an exclusive dining experience. Additionally the suites features a two-person, hand carved, sandstone bathtubs within the private garden (Agave Suite) or extra-large ensuite (Pepper Suite). The split level Agave Suite, with its own lounge area with open fireplace, is suitable for up to three guests.
