Luxury hotel Claridge’s is offering free accommodation to London NHS workers who are unable to live at home during the COVID-19 outbreak
From today onwards, the prestigious five-star hotel will be opening its rooms to 40 doctors, nurses and other key workers who cannot currently live at home.
As well as beds (which usually start from £650 per night) Claridge’s will also provide dinner and breakfast to those staying.
The generosity stems from the problem that many NHS workers have been forced into alternative accommodation, due to living with relatives in high-risk groups. Following its recent closure for the first time in its 200-year history, the hotel has pledged to support the NHS as much as possible.
Paddy McKillen, co-owner of the Maybourne Group that runs the hotel, commented: “Just as it has in the past world wars, Claridge’s has a duty to step up and support the people of London. Teams from all our hotels have volunteered to help and support the dedicated NHS workers at this critical time. We are forever in their debt.”
