Kicking things off in style, to mark the launch of the 2024 season in the White Isle, OKU Ibiza will be hosting a gastronomic-themed opening party, ‘Party with the Chefs’, on Tuesday 14th May.
The ‘Carnival Jungle’ themed bash will see an immersive experience with the top chefs offering small plates of their signature flavours, with live cooking and sensational cocktails in the setting of an underground party.
Expect an underground tattoo exhibition and a secret DJ den, setting the stage for a fresh and vibrant line up of Ibiza’s best talent. This year, chefs attending the fabulous event include UK’s Adam Handling of Frog, Dutch Masterchef judge Soenil Bahodoer of De Lindehof, and chef Paco Budia of new local dining destination, Lado Ibiza.
Connecting with nature and community
Elsewhere in Ibiza, this year the OKU team will be endeavouring to protect the local lizard population behind the scenes. The Pitiusa lizard, also known as the Ibiza Wall Lizard, will be familiar to many who visit the island, however, this species is seriously endangered due to the proliferation of invasive snakes that began to arrive from the mainland in the 2000s, mainly in the trunks of imported trees.
Therefore, OKU have created a beautiful new garden pavilion with a range of different indigenous plant species, that will provide a protected area for the lizards, and will be monitored round the clock to keep praying snakes at bay. Over on Kos, guests can now enjoy a local farm experience – an opportunity to experience an authentic and generations old aloe vera farm in action.
Hosted by the local farmer, guests will undertake a workshop in harvesting aloe, learning about all the benefits, before mixing with essential oils to take home.
