Designer holiday, anyone? Filled with Moroccan-inspired aesthetics, here’s everything a luxury traveler needs to know about this duo of opulent private villas
Located just ten minutes from 13-room Vermelho and the town of Melides, La Salvada is a two-bedroom creative sanctuary where time stands still. Surrounded by fields of wildflowers, the villa was designed by architect Tarek Shamma, with interiors by none other than Christian Louboutin.
A pink-hued, Moroccan-inspired aesthetic flows through the space, which features two ensuite bedrooms (sleeping four guests) with double-height ceilings, set apart from the main building for added privacy. The expansive living area includes a dining room, lounge, and a skylight that bathes the room in natural light.

A fully equipped kitchen is available for guest use, or for a private chef arranged by the Vermelho team, bringing the hotel experience into the heart of the villa.
Outdoors, guests will find a plunge pool, alfresco dining area, and fireplace perfect for wood-fire cooking or warming up in the cooler months.
The jewel in La Salvada’s crown is a beautiful trio of rooftop terraces, offering sweeping 360˚ views over the surrounding countryside and unforgettable sunsets.

A short distance away, La Maison des Bateaux is a whitewashed Alentejan boathouse accented with cobalt blue, tucked amid rice fields. Inside, a fully equipped kitchen and living room are adorned with regional art and pieces from Louboutin’s collection. Two nautically inspired bedrooms sleep four guests, while three bathrooms feature windows restored from old ships.
There’s also a comfortable TV room that can be transformed into a third bedroom for two additional guests. Designed with outdoor living in mind, the villa’s expansive wraparound wooden deck is complete with an outdoor living area and daybed. A large pool lies hidden down a garden path, offering a serene, sun-soaked escape.

Guests of La Salvada and La Maison des Bateaux are welcomed with a generous basket of local delicacies. For those seeking the full hotel breakfast experience, dining is available at Vermelho’s Xtian Restaurant, along with access to guest facilities including the swimming pool, spa treatment rooms and cocktails at Bar Vermelho.
Additional services, bookable through the Vermelho concierge, include room service, a private chef or butler, nanny services, personal shopping, curated excursions and beach club access.
