Go for a spin with Off Grid In Motion, Catalonia

Pedal to the metal. Off Grid Girona, the new ten-bedroom rural open house set within a restored 17th-century masia in Catalonia’s Alta Garrotxa, today announces its first signature experience: Off Grid In Motion, a four-night retreat in partnership with Girona-based boutique cycling travel specialists Eat Sleep Cycle. The retreat takes place on 1–5 May, 23–27 July, and 9–13 October 2026.
More than a cycling holiday, the experience marks the launch of Off Grid Girona’s programme of hosted gatherings – immersive, small-scale retreats that bring people together around shared interests, place, and pace.
Set against the volcanic landscapes and ancient forests of La Garrotxa, Off Grid In Motion offers two simultaneous tracks: anOn Bike itinerary for intermediate cyclists and an Off Bike programme for non-cycling guests. Both groups come together for wine tastings, a DJ Set by Tom Middleton, communal pool-side dinners, hyper-local gastronomy, and restorative wellbeing sessions including yoga, sleep workshops, massage, and recovery treatments.
The retreat begins and ends in Girona, Europe’s most celebrated cycling hub, at Eat Sleep Cycle’s headquarters. Cyclists ride out into the hills, leaving smooth tarmac behind as the landscape opens into forests, mountain villages, and quiet roads. The final climb delivers riders to Off Grid Girona, tucked beneath the towering Mare de Déu del Mont, where the pace slows with the hotel’s quiet invitation to switch off. Daily guided road rides explore the region’s most scenic routes, with a choice of long (average 100km) and short (70km) options, rated intermediate (2/4).
Non-cycling guests follow a parallel programme of activities designed to immerse them in the local culture and natural landscapes. Highlights include guided hikes in La Garrotxa Volcanic Zone Natural Park, ratafia workshops, cooking classes, andcultural visits, ensuring everyone enjoys a full and enriching experience.
