Take 5: Ski News Bites

Exceptional brand new chalets, heli-ski adventures and exclusive private jet travel – here’s five pieces of ski and mountain news worth getting hungry about this December

1 Eleven Revelstoke Lodge Re-Opens, British Columbia

One for the adrenaline junkies. Eleven Revelstoke Lodge will reopen for its first full winter season on 19 December, signalling the return of Revelstoke and British Columbia’s most epic season of the year – heli season. Set deep in interior BC, the lodge sits within one of the region’s fastest-evolving adventure hubs, where dramatic mountain ranges receive over 700 inches of snowfall each year, some of the most in the world, and the legacy of heli-skiing runs strong.

The terrain spans 300,000 acres across the Monashee and Valhalla ranges, guests can access lighter-than-air powder with highly trained guides who bring decades of local knowledge. The 1,600 square kilometre tenure, perfectly spaced trees, wide open bowls and expansive, glaciated terrain, means no two days are the same. Eleven also offers direct skiing via heli from Kelowna Airport, meaning the super keen guests who are itching to hit the powder can do so as soon as they land. A bucket-list destination for heli-skiers in the know, Eleven Revelstoke Lodge is a base to call home in this charming, mountain town.

Positioned right in the centre of town, the Eleven Revelstoke Lodge places guests within walking distance of a lively ski community and characterful downtown. Earlier this year,  the lodge unveiled a series of upgrades, with the lodge now featuring 12 guest rooms, three more than previously, with refurbished bathrooms, and stylish new interior design by Twelve Interiors.

An expanded third-floor lounge and bar area also provides a tranquil space to unwind after adrenaline-filled days in the mountains. Furthermore, the building’s old, character-filled boiler room has been converted into a private bar area open to the public from Wednesday – Sunday on evenings, serving expertly crafted cocktails. Updated wellness amenities include four brand new treatment rooms, a cutting-edge sauna, a cold plunge, and a steam room, as well as a state-of-the-art, fully equipped fitness centre – all completely new additions to the lodge.

In addition to the new amenities, the entire property received an interior make-over under the watchful eye of Blake Pike and Twelve Interiors, with a complete upscale feel that has become synonymous with the Eleven brand. Each of the rooms have been furnished with an eclectic mix of vintage and custom furniture, Moroccan tiles, rustic plaster, and local pine, perfectly mixing traditional ski-lodge comfort and mid-century modern decor.

2 Purple Ski’s brand new Chalet Cervinia, Val d’Isère

Purple Ski, the premier luxury chalet operator offering exceptional properties across the French Alps, is delighted to announce the opening of the newest addition to its portfolio, Chalet Cervinia, Val d’Isère. The brand-new build, which sleeps up to 13 in six bedrooms, will be available for stays from December 2025.

Chalet Cervinia is the latest masterpiece from owners Etienne and Jeanne Roesch Degoy, the husband-and-wife team also behind Purple Ski’s award-winning Chalet Inoko. The latest property is a brand-new build, a rarity when it comes to well-located chalets in the Alps’ premier resorts.

A true passion project for the couple, the chalet derives its name from the Italian name for the Matterhorn, the famous Swiss peak Etienne – a keen mountaineer – climbed earlier in 2025.

Tucked away in the quiet lanes of the charming Le Joseray area of Val d’Isère, the opulent three-story residence is a true hidden gem that effortlessly blends classic alpine design with state-of-the-art facilities. Less than 100m from the Joseray piste and a short walk from the village centre with its bustling shops, bars and restaurants, Chalet Cervinia is the ultimate choice for those in search of a serene and luxurious retreat just moments from the action.

A sprawling open-plan living-dining space sits at the heart of the property, flanked by sun-soaked balconies to the south and east, ideal for soaking up the picturesque views of Val d’Isère village and the snowy treetops and peaks beyond. The inviting space is the vision of owner-interior designer Jeanne Roesch Degoy and combines a magnificent fireplace, wooden beams, stunning pendant lighting and floor-to-ceiling windows to create a luxurious yet cosy setting for family dinners and intimate nights by the fire.

Comprising five elegant double bedrooms plus a children’s bunk room, each with its own en-suite bathroom, the chalet is the ideal choice for families and groups of friends alike. Guests will find ample opportunity to unwind après-ski at the on-property spa, with its hot tub, sauna, massage room and expansive sapphire-hued swimming pool – the ideal spot in which to soak away the day’s exertions.

On the ground floor, a state-of-the-art home screening room delivers a true cinema experience, complete with tiered seating and ceiling lighting featuring a starry-night sky design, while the custom boot room provides a comfortable space to prepare for an exhilarating day on the slopes.

As with all chalets in the Purple Ski collection, guests of Chalet Cervinia have access to a full team of staff, daily housekeeping, an in-chalet ski and boot fitting service and a private chauffeured minibus, as well as a dedicated concierge service to cater to every guest’s wish. From organising private airport and helicopter transfers to restaurant reservations, ski lessons, spa treatments, childcare and the unique experiences which make a holiday extra special, the Purple Ski concierge is always on hand to provide alpine adventures of a lifetime.
