Hot Off The Plate: A Sneak Peak at Pub in the Park 2022

An upcoming UK-wide festival filled with top notch cuisine, Writer Kellie Erm takes this year’s Pub in the Park PUB 150’s dishes for a chef-powered taste drive

With Pub in the Park set to return with its largest ever foodie-laden tour this summer, I had the pleasure of getting a sneak preview to this year’s Pub in the Park PUB 150 – an incredible menu of over 150 dishes that will be served up in the UK’s largest food and music festival, in nine locations across England. The evening and the festival, both hosted by famed chef, Tom Kerridge, aiming to celebrate everything there is to love about the British pub.

Some favourites from the showcase that you have to look forward to: Tom Kerridge’s pork belly and smoked cod’s roe taco, served with a sweet and tart apple ketchup, pork cracklings and pickled red onion. An excellent combination of sweet and sour to counteract the fat of the pork, tightly wrapped up in a tortilla.

Ruth Hansom of the Princess of Shoreditch will be serving the gastropub’s signature hake and scallop en croute with cider sauce – perfectly cooked hake wrapped in flaky puff pastry whimsically shaped into a little fish.

Beloved chef and restaurateur, Angela Hartnett of Michelin-starred Murano, wowed the crowd with a pea and smoked mozzarella arancini served atop lamb ragu and a healthy serving parmesan.

The team behind Hoppers also have some showstoppers, including a very moreish bone marrow varuval with roti to dip, and Cue Point served an Indian twist on nachos, with their oak smoked brisket naco (naan-nachos).

Having been to many different food festivals in London, you often anticipate the portions being too small, so you will end up having to buy more dishes than you had set out to. Either that, or they are too big, and do not give you the chance to try all the ones you had planned to (even if you share). Luckily, the portions were the perfect size, not interrupting your scavenger hunt for the best dish, but also not breaking the bank

Launching this May and running until September, a total of 39 pop-up restaurants will serve this impressive line-up of 150 dishes across nine festivals – making it the largest menu touring Britain this Summer!

Pub in the Park is also mighty proud to host 13 Michelin starred chefs and feature 10 of Estrella Damn’s Top 50 Gastro Pubs.

Some of the industry’s most revered chefs will be plating up exceptional food including  Pub in the Park festival frontman and two Michelin starred chef Tom Kerridge, Britain’s youngest ever Michelin starred chef Tommy Banks, pub chef extraordinaire and Marco Pierre White protégé Stephen Terry, the highly-accomplished Angela Hartnett, proud Yorkshireman Andrew Pern, award-winning food writer and chef the Ben Tish, chef brothers the awesomely talented Chris and James Tanner, rising-star Ruth Hansom and London-based talent Karan Gokani.

PUB 150 is a truly impressive collection of dishes from our country’s greatest chefs. The first wave of dishes have been announced, featuring 109 dishes sweeping through a broad range of culinary styles: classic and retro flavours take centre stage this year with Mexican and Spanish influences also making the cut, as well as well-loved pub classics elevated to delicious culinary masterpieces.

Pub in the Park will be running its largest ever tour with nine locations from May to September 2022 – with new towns Wimbledon and Brighton for this year’s edible extravaganza.

The music line-up is also better than ever with showstopping performances from music legends including Rag ‘N’ Bone Man, McFly, Kaiser Chiefs, Melanie C, Craig David TS5, Sophie Ellis-Bextor, Natalie Imbruglia, The Human League, The Cuban Brothers, Happy Mondays, Huey Morgan DJ set and more. Who’s hungry?
