Forks at the ready. Sani Gourmet 2023 is back, and even more appetite-inducing than ever. Paying homage to decadent international cuisine with their annual haute cuisine event from 7th July – 12th August 2023, here’s all the delicious details
Calling all gourmand travellers. Sani Resort, the world’s leading family resort in Greece has announced the return of their unique gastronomy event series, Sani Gourmet, this summer – and you’re invited to the edible action.
Sani Gourmet 2023 has been hotly anticipated by the global culinary eye and is one of the most prestigious culinary events in Greece. Taking place from 7th July to 12th August, the resort will be welcoming a sumptuous line-up of one to six Michelin-starred chefs from France, Korea and Spain to deliver exceptional dining experiences to guests who grace their tables.
This year’s event is set to more delicious than ever before – with the most acclaimed line-up in Sani Gourmet history, with chefs including Akira Back, Javier Torres, Hélène Darroze, Christian Le Squer and Stephanie Le Quellec.
Each chef will take over Sani’s restaurants and curate mouth-watering menus of seven to nine dishes, inspired by their signature cooking styles to serve at Sani Asterias and Porto Sani in some of the resort’s high end restaurants, Water and Elia.
Of course, nobody will go thirsty either. Each dish will also be paired with fine Greek and international wines expertly selected by Sani’s expert sommeliers. The sophisticated and elegant setting of each location will match the impressive culinary mastery of these incredible chefs at this internationally acclaimed event.
The lineup is as follows:
1 Akira Back, 7th July
One Michelin-starred Korean-born chef Akira Back will be serving Asian cuisine infused with Korean heritage at Elia restaurant on 7th July, dishing up innovative and artistic taste sensations. With restaurants on a global scale in 25 locations, from Beverly Hills to Singapore, Back has nine more restaurants opening soon, and is known worldwide for his artistic vision and cutting-edge cuisine.
2 Hélène Darroze, 22nd July
Hélène Darroze delights in creating innovative French cuisine with ingredients sourced from local farmers and producers. With six Michelin-stars under her belt, Darroze takes pride in reflecting her own personality with every dish she makes, and is known for her restaurants at The Connaught in London, her own restaurant in Paris and Villa La Coste in Provence. Darroze will also be taking over the culinary reins at the Royal Mansour in Marrakesh later this year. Darroze’s event will take place on 22nd July at Elia restaurant.
3 Christian Le Squer, 29th July
Three-Michelin starred chef Christian Le Squer will be bringing French cuisine to Sani Resort on 29th July at Elia restaurant, combining typical dishes from his childhood in Brittany, France with elegant dishes that are inspired by the modern world. His signature dishes include turbot flesh with truffled emulsion of ratte potatoes and he is known for catering to the more contemporary diner, with delicate flavours and creative flair.
4 Stephanie Le Quellec, 5th August
Two-Michelin starred chef Stephanie Le Quellec will be serving sophisticated Southern French cuisine at Water restaurant on 5th August, where she has created the resident menu at Sani Asterias. Le Quellec’s dishes are seasonal and fun, with the aim of ‘demystifying luxury gastronomy to make it friendly, welcoming and less intimidating, without extracting any of the magic, charm and elegance’.
5 Javier Torre, 12th August
Spanish chef Javier Torres, from Torres Brothers, was accepted into culinary school at the age of 14 and has never looked back. With two-Michelin stars, Torres has grown up with his twin brother who he also shared a restaurant with in Barcelona. Representing Spain and the flavours of Catalonia and beyond, Torres will host a dinner at Elia restaurant on 12th August.
