Join Michel Roux Jr & Six Top Chefs for Special Charity Fundraising Dinner

Taking place this November at The Langham hotel, join some of the UK’s finest culinary talent for an evening of edible bliss in order to help raise vital funds for DEBRA UK

If you love exquisite fine dining experiences, don’t miss out on attending this delectable autumn event. Hosted by Michel Roux Jr, this rare upcoming dinner will pay tribute to his late father, Albert, who brought great French cooking to the UK. Returning to London on Monday 1 November 2021 at The Langham, The Great Chefs Dinner in aid of DEBRA UK, will take place in the hotel’s Roux at the Landau restaurant.

Michel Roux Jr will be joined by six stellar chefs, each of whom will prepare a unique and carefully-curated course for the event. The fantastic line-up includes Chris King, Nieves Barragán, Stephen Terry, Steven Doherty, Eric Lanlard, and Monica Galetti, each chosen for their links with Albert Roux, who also supported DEBRA as a charity close to his heart.

DEBRA UK supports people suffering from Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB), a potentially fatal skin condition that causes constant pain due to unstoppable internal and external blistering.

Michel Roux Jr, Chef Patron of Le Gavroche and the man behind Roux at the Landau, commented: “I am always so proud to host this fantastic fundraising event for DEBRA.  It is such a wonderful charity and one that I and The Langham, London are thrilled to continue to support. We have some exceptional chefs cooking this year for the sixth DEBRA Great Chefs Dinner and I know it will be a fantastic night raising money to fight EB.”

The money raised at the Great Chefs Dinner will fund community support and healthcare services for the EB community in the UK.

Guests will enjoy a Champagne reception sponsored by Dumangin Fils followed by a six-course feast prepared by the participating chefs.

The six-course menu is as follows:

Chris King, Executive Chef of The Langham, London
Canapes from Chef Albert’s repertoire

Nieves Barragán, Chef Director of London restaurant Sabor
Ham croquetas, celeriac, tarragon

Stephen Terry, Owner of The Hardwick in Wales
Chalk Stream trout ‘Viennoise’, sauce Bois Boudran

Steven Doherty, Ex-Head Chef of Le Gavroche, first British 3* Michelin Chef
‘Navarin D’Agneau’

Monica Galetti, Chef Owner of restaurant, Mere, and judge on BBC’s MasterChef
Apricot tartlet, whipped vanilla ganache, Cointreau, candied pistachios

Eric Lanlard, Master pâtissier who runs the Cake Boy, Battersea

As well as gourmet mouthfuls, the evening will also feature fundraising auction prizes offering once-in-a-lifetime experiences and culinary delights, kindly donated by generous sponsors including The Ritz, The Langham, London and The Waterside Inn, Bray on offer in a charity auction on the night. Also included are luxury stays at The Beaumont Hotel London and The Gainsborough Bath Spa and The Glasshouse Hotel Edinburgh.

Tony Byrne, DEBRA CEO said: “This incredible event is to raise vital funds for the DEBRA community support team, which helps families all across the UK, giving them the support that they need at every stage of their lives. DEBRA ensures they can access various essential healthcare services from bandaging to medication. We provide financial support in the form of emergency support grants, emotional support including bereavement support, holidays for people living with EB and crucial support to tackle a wide range of social issues such as benefits, finance, housing, education and employment.

DEBRA works in partnership with the NHS to fund nursing services in hospitals such as Great Ormond Street and Birmingham Women’s and Children’s Hospital. DEBRA funds podiatry and dentistry services within the NHS and funded the Rare Disease Centre at Guys and St Thomas’ Hospital to bring together all healthcare services that the EB community needs.

We need to raise £380,000 this year alone: that represents the full costs of our community service and healthcare commitments to the end of 2021. DEBRA is wholly reliant upon voluntary and charitable support to provide our services – we do not receive any statutory support. Every £1 donated will make a difference to the EB Community.”
