Cape Weligama, Sri Lanka Reopens With Brand New Look

In celebration of its 10th anniversary, Sri Lanka’s original iconic Cape Weligama hhas unveiled an extensive refurbishment, revealing a new look and facilities that seamlessly blend minimalism with tropical island living

From its origins as a sleepy fishing village, Weligama has blossomed into the epicentre of the Southern Riviera, with a vibrant beach scene, world-class surfing, historic cinnamon estates and an influx of emerging restaurants and bars – it was Cape Weligama that put the destination on the map for the luxury traveller, a decade ago.

Its crescent-shaped bay is a surfer’s paradise, offering consistent waves and golden beaches. For travellers seeking culture, nearby landmarks such as Galle Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage site, and the hand-carved rock temple of Mulkirigala provide glimpses into Sri Lanka’s storied past.

Whilst nature enthusiasts will revel in whale-watching excursions, while divers can explore vibrant coral reefs teeming with marine life. With its temperate tropical climate, Weligama promises year-round allure.

Located on one of the island’s most impressive coastlines, guests can now enjoy a brand-new safe and secluded beach and beach club alongside innovative culinary offerings, updated family suites and an all-new ‘Forest School Kids Club’.
