From rugged adventure through to island life and natural beauty galore, discover 30 of the hottest locations to visit in 2025
Suitcases at the ready. 2025 marks 30 years of Destinations: The Holiday & Travel Show – three colourful decades of inspiring thousands of travellers to discover the world. To celebrate, the team have called on the expertise of dozens of their top exhibitors to devise a list of 30 of the holiday hotspots to travel to in 2025.
From activity and adventure to culture and cruise, the event offers curious travellers and holiday lovers a world of inspiration for their next trip.

Whether you’re looking for inspiration for your honeymoon, planning a retirement celebration, planning a solo or group expedition or even a staycation, this annual show is a must-attend for any discerning and adventurous traveller in search of new places to discover, new ways to travel and memorable experiences.
For 2025, it takes place at Manchester Central 16th – 19th January and London Olympia 30th January – 2nd February 2025.

Ben Myatt, Show Manager at Destinations: The Holiday & Travel Show told The Wordrobe: “January is the perfect time to plan your holiday in 2025 and we are spoilt for choice with the wealth of experience of our exhibitors who showcase their very best offers and ideas each year.
“We have seen an enormous amount of change in the 30 years that Destinations has been running – from the rise in sustainable and solo travel – to holiday makers wanting to get off the beaten track, the rise of trends such as experiential travel and the overall feeling that people want to truly immerse themselves in a culture and learn as they go.”

These are the top 30 locations to visit in 2025 as selected by exhibitors at Destinations: The Holiday & Travel Show:
- The Andaman Islands (north eastern Indian Ocean)
Sally Thomas from Authentic India Tours says: “We have seen a big interest in the Andaman Islands – they’re definitely an up-and-coming destination, giving you that beach extension without the high price tag of the Maldives.
“They’re perfect for anyone craving peaceful vibes and untouched beauty. With stunning beaches, lush green forests, and vibrant coral reefs, this tropical paradise has something for everyone—whether you’re an adventure junkie or just want to relax.”
- Greenland
Niamh Jenkinson from Travel HX says: “The opening of Nuuk International Airport in November 2024 marked a transformative moment for Greenland, setting the stage for a new era of tourism growth. In anticipation, HX has announced an exclusive partnership with Air Greenland alongside three new itineraries starting and ending in Nuuk, positioning itself at the forefront of this destination’s transformation.”
- Ghana
Wild Frontiers Managing Director, Clare Tobin says: “With new direct daily flights to Accra with Virgin launching in May 2025, Ghana is poised to welcome more international visitors. This culturally proud nation offers unforgettable experiences with ample opportunities to meet and mingle with local Ghanaians, learn about transatlantic slave history at Cape Coast Castle, meet a chief in Elmina or watch the Ashanti monarchy during the Akwasidae Festival in Kumasi.”
Michael Edwards, Managing Director of Explore Worldwide agrees: “Ghana is a really captivating and underrated destination, so vibrant and rich in culture, and so warm and welcoming. There are very few operators currently selling Ghana, but it’s a country with huge potential.”
- Pakistan – Hunza
Saadia Baber CEO and Founder of Xperience Pakistan says: “Hunza in the North East of Pakistan is a destination that has so much to offer in terms of scenic beauty, authenticity and culture, yet it remains off the radar for so many holiday seekers. It is home to eight of the highest mountains in the world and has some of the most hospitable people, with so much on offer in terms of handicrafts, gemstones and cuisine, it’s criminal that no one knows about it.”
- Bosnia and Herzegovina
Wild Frontiers’, Clare Tobin says:“A less crowded alternative to Dubrovnik in Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina is being heralded as the rising star of The Balkans for 2025. In 2023, the nation welcomed 1.7 million tourists with visa-free travel, marking a 17.3% increase from the previous year, with significant contributions to the local economy.”
Cat Jordan, Communications Director from Travelzoo agrees: “From stunning landscapes, waterfalls, castle ruins to busy Alps, Bosnia & Herzegovina is an “alternative” destination on the rise – the Balkans are on trend. If you’re a lover of wine, the other side of the med offers wine trails galore and a burgeoning wine industry and the Herzegovina Wine Route features award-winning wines. If you love to cycle, the Trans Dinarica Cycle route recently launched and spans all 8 Balkans countries and is a 100-stage trail for cyclists of all abilities.”
- Antarctica
Niamh Jenkinson from Travel HX says: “Antarctica is becoming an increasingly popular destination for adventurers, scientists, and travellers seeking a unique and pristine experience. As the region’s accessibility and infrastructure improve, 2025 is shaping up to be a fantastic year for visiting.”
- South Korea
Michael Edwards at Explore Worldwide (www.explore.co.uk) says: “The word on the street is that South Korea is the place to visit next year. Whether you prefer to travel solo or as part of a group, South Korea is a relatively unexplored (and safe) slice of Asia. The country seamlessly juxtaposes over 5,000 years of culture and history with all things hyper-modern. “Visitors can admire modern architecture in Seoul, visit folk villages in Andong and shop-‘til-you-drop at Busan’s markets on our Discover South Korea tour. Yet, South Korea offers so much more.”
- Latvia
Cat Jordan, Communications Director from Travelzoo says: “Unspoilt beaches, ancient castles and Europe’s widest waterfall, Latvia is now even easier to reach than ever before. With daily flights from Heathrow, Latvia is incredibly well connected by bus and train, making it the ideal gateway to the rest of the Balkans. Less overcrowded than some hot destinations, it also has a good conversion rate – you can purchase a beer for £3 and a meal for just £8!”
- Uzbekistan
The British Museum’s blockbuster Silk Road exhibition (running until February 2025) has raised awareness of Uzbekistan’s qualities. Explore Worldwide’s Product Manager, James Adkin says: “It’s clear there’s a huge amount of interest in Central Asia and the Silk Road at the moment, both culturally and historically.” Explore have seen bookings to Uzbekistan up 52% on last year.
- India
Sally Thomas from Authentic India Tours says: “Shimla, the “Queen of Hills,” in India, is a picturesque retreat nestled in the Himalayas, offering a perfect blend of colonial charm and natural beauty. Its cool climate, lush greenery, and breathtaking mountain views make it a haven for nature lovers. Stroll along the Mall Road, visit historic landmarks like Christ Church and Viceregal Lodge, or explore nearby snow-covered peaks. Shimla also boasts a vibrant local culture and delectable cuisine, ensuring a memorable experience for every traveller.”
- Albania
Explore Worldwide’s Product Manager for Albania, Caroline Phillips, says: ” For a while Albania has been dubbed ‘the new Croatia’ and it certainly has the scenery, coastlines and delicious food, but it has its own unique charm too – not to mention fewer crowds and lower prices!”
Michael Edwards at Explore Worldwide (www.explore.co.uk) adds: “Albania seems to be on the lips of travellers around the world largely thanks to its natural beauty, uncrowded beaches and affordability.
“Explore’s bookings to Albania are up 68% in the last six months compared with the same period last year, with active tours to the country (walking and cycling itineraries) selling particularly strongly.”
- Norway
Iain Powell, VP Sales & Marketing at Hurtigruten says: “Astro-tourism is a rapidly growing trend, and we anticipate even greater interest in 2025. With the exciting arrival of further solar maximum activity, we believe Norway offers an unparalleled destination for travellers seeking an authentic, immersive Northern Lights experience and Hurtigruten is the best way to do it.”
- Sri Lanka
Wild Frontiers’ Clare Tobin says: “Sri Lanka has seen a significant rise in interest, with Wild Frontiers bookings quadrupling compared to 2023. Plus, going visa-free in October 2024 for key markets like the UK, US, Canada and Australia is expected to boost visitors even further for 2025. Known for its rolling tea fields, rich wildlife, and cultural treasures, Sri Lanka is now a prime destination for those looking to experience a culturally rich and unique destination in 2025.”
- Montenegro
Alexandra Iordan, Head of Sales and Marketing at Gulet Cruise Montenegro says: “Montenegro is now a hot spot, with increased flights to Tivat Airport from the UK. It offers diverse holiday options, including sailing, cultural experiences, and active adventures. Montenegro’s untouched nature, rich history, and vibrant culture make it a perfect getaway. We’re already seeing significant demand for 2025 and even 2026.”
- Canada – Toronto
Márcia Azevedo Moreira, Travel Expert from TravelEssence says: “For us, Canada is showing signs of being a top destination to visit in 2025. When looking at specific destinations, Western Canada such as British Columbia continues to be of interest, as well as Eastern Canada.”
Cat Jordan at Travelzoo highlights the benefits of visiting Toronto: “If you’re looking to go a little further afield, Toronto is a great choice. With a thriving food scene and markets, it’s less crowded and touristy than cities such as New York or Boston, but still has great shopping options and gourmet delights that we all love to seek out on a city break. That said, it’s not all bustling city streets. You’re within easy reach of Niagara Falls, can embark on an Ice wine trail and unknown to many, even visit the beach.”
- South Africa
Julie Molyneux, Founder of Africa & Barefoot Experiences Ltd believes South Africa will be very popular in 2025: “South Africa has always been a popular destination because of its scenic splendour, cultural diversity, and wildlife experiences. Combining these fundamental basics of a holiday to this hotspot along with culinary experiences in local homes, volunteering in communities that battle to provide basic services to impoverished communities and the contrast of conservation areas and the surrounding local communities often proves a life changing experience whilst exploring a new destination.”
- Finland
Kelly Jackson, Managing Director, Contiki and Insight Vacations, EMEA says: “We’ve noticed a significant increase in interest of typically lesser-visited European destinations, such as Finland – people are loving the idea that they can really get to know a community or destination, by spending an afternoon with the nomadic Sami community for example.”
- Nepal
Nepal is expected to be a highlight of 2025 for travellers looking to explore both natural beauty and rich cultural history. Wild Frontiers report that they have seen a 55% increase in bookings compared to last year, and this destination is perfect for those seeking sustainable tourism and immersive experiences in local communities.
Marianne Grimshaw, Wild Frontiers Product Manager says, “Nepal has lots of cultural appeal and chances to spend time in remote rural communities and learn about traditional crafts. Our Mustang Valley itinerary explores an area that was off-limits to tourists for many years, and takes you right off the tourist trail, without missing out on the highlights. For those looking for a trekking experience that’s a little different, our Alternative Annapurna Sanctuary trek offers a route that explores quieter parts of the region.”
- Ecuador – Quito
CEO of Metropolitan Touring, Paulina Burbano de Lara says: “Quito is truly experiencing a renaissance, and there’s never been a more exciting time to visit. From our unmatched location on San Francisco Plaza in the heart of the UNESCO-listed Old Town, guests can immerse themselves in the city’s rich history while enjoying the sophistication and warmth of Casa Gangotena. With the newly launched metro making it easier to explore, guests can discover Quito’s vibrant art districts like La Floresta and exceptional dining, including Nuema, proudly ranked 61 in this year’s World’s 50 Best Restaurants 50-100 list. Quito is ready to captivate and inspire every traveller.”
- New Zealand
Marcia Azevedo Moreira from TravelEssence says New Zealand will continue to be a hit: “Most people tend to visit both islands; people want to see naturally beautiful places, places that are still untamed and less mainstream – those hidden gems.”
- Armenia
Wild Frontiers, Clare Tobin says: “Neighbouring Georgia has been incredibly popular over the last few years, but now Armenia is emerging as a must-visit destination with a rich cultural tapestry and awe-inspiring landscapes. In 2025, it’s expected to be one of the fastest-growing spots for cultural tourism, with Wild Frontiers revealing bookings for Armenia are already up by 20%. Travellers can fully immerse in its ancient Christian heritage, marvel at sacred monasteries, and trek through dramatic mountain scenery.”
- Cambodia
Cat Jordan from Travelzoo says: “If you want value AND a fascinating holiday, then this is the place. The ideal destination for a true travel enthusiast who wants to explore a little off the beaten track, Cambodia ticks several travel boxes. Not as busy and less “touristy” than Thailand and Vietnam, Cambodia has beautiful unspoilt beaches as well as breathtaking scenery, cultural experiences and a great conversion rate – you can purchase a beer for as little as 80p and a meal for just £3.
“Abundant in wildlife, playing home to leopards, elephants, gibbons and Irrawaddy dolphins, Cambodia offers traditional experiences like the bamboo train and the iconic Angor Wat.”
- Kyrgyzstan
Wild Frontiers’ Clare Tobin says: “Often overshadowed by its more well-trodden neighbours on the Silk Road, Kyrgyzstan is the perfect destination for the adventurous traveller with its breathtaking scenery making it perfect for exploring. Wild Frontiers has experienced a 55% increase in Kyrgyzstan bookings compared to this time last year, and worldwide Google searches for ‘holidays to Kyrgyzstan’ have increased by 21% in the last quarter.”
- Scotland
Cat Jordan from Travelzoo says: “The Hebrides have been named in Condé Nast’s and Lonely Planet’s best beaches in the world’s list and although it may not always be sunny in Scotland, with rugged yet beautiful surroundings, Scotland is equally as beautiful out of season. Easily accessible via train and car from the UK in 2025 Scotland has several events taking place. Glasgow will be celebrating 850 years of history with a three-day music event, pop up social history exhibition and a food trail will be the foundation of the 2025 line-up. The Tall Ships race is coming to Aberdeen, and the Inverness Castle Experience is opening in the highlands in 2025”
- Greece – Athens
Fay McCormack, General Manager of Star Clippers’ UK GSA says: “Places offering historical significance are on the rise for 2025, as guests seek a cultural connection with their holiday destinations. Cities such as Athens, which is steeped in historical value and offer visitors unparalleled cultural treasures, whilst exuding Mediterranean charm and inimitable culinary experiences, are a real hotspot for next year. Athens offers a gateway to multiple other tourist hotspots, including the Greek Islands, ensuring guests get maximum value from their trip and finely balance history with charm, authenticity and luxury.”
- The Caribbean
Solos Holidays have said they’ve seen a huge surge in popularity for sunshine favourite, the Caribbean with bookings for their Solos Exclusives properties up 50% year-on-year. These tailored group holidays are ideal for solos, combining flexibility with the opportunity to connect with like-minded explorers. 2025 is all about discovering the world your way.
- The Andean Cloud Forest – Ecuador, Peru and Colombia
CEO of Metropolitan Touring, Paulina Burbano de Lara says: “Exploring the cloud forest allows visitors to immerse themselves in a lesser-known type of rainforest, characterized by its high humidity and persistent fog. It’s a place to learn about the intricate ecosystems and the incredible biodiversity that thrives in this environment. It’s also an opportunity to engage with local communities and understand their relationship with this vital habitat. For example, Mashpi Lodge, a luxury hideaway in the Andean cloud forest sits within a 3,000HA Reserve which is recognised as a global biodiversity hotspot with the hotel’s full-time team of biologists discovering over 20 new species for science since it opened in 2012; this is a rare opportunity for guests to truly immerse themselves and engage meaningfully.”
- Egypt
Wild Frontiers’ Clare Tobin says “Egypt gives you the opportunity to visit Egyptian temples and archaeological sites, from Dendera to Philae, with very few tourists swarming around some of the most impressive sights in the world.”
- Ecuador – The Galapagos Islands
Metropolitan Touring’s, Paulina Burbano de Lara says: “The Galapagos Islands offer an experience where visitors can interact with nature in an intimate and respectful manner. The islands are a haven for unique species — both land and marine — that you won’t find anywhere else. Think of giant tortoises lumbering through the underbrush, marine iguanas sunning on the black volcanic rocks, and playful sea lions that might just swim alongside you. This level of interaction with wildlife, combined with the islands’ raw, volcanic beauty, makes a trip here a true encounter with the natural world.”
- Saudi Arabia
With Vision 2030 still well under way, there seems to be no slowing to Saudi Arabia’s tourism boom. Wild Frontiers’ Clare Tobin says: “Expect sweeping desert scenery, interactions with local communities, busy bazaars and architectural feats. Virgin have recently announced a new daily service to Riyadh from March 2025 meaning this is set to only increase in popularity in 2025.”
