Ideal for a day of exploring, Portman Marylebone has launched a free public art trail ‘Find The Words’ in partnership with Brixton-based street artist Andy Leek, best known globally for his Notes to Strangers.

The ‘Find The Words’ trail is an area-wide installation integrated in to the urban landscape for visitors to discover. As visitors wander the streets of Portman Marylebone, they will discover artworks of unique notes of positivity, inspiration and warmth from large scale installations to smaller more subtle pieces to discover.

From giant laser cut reflective installations on Portman Square and George Street to secret handwritten signs and multi coloured graffitied plant installations – every corner has a story to tell and a new piece of artwork to enjoy.

The goal of the trail is to spread a little unexpected positivity across the area for commuters, visitors and locals. Andy is well known for his uplifting words and his commitment to improving people’s mental health just by engaging with his art in their day to day lives and his hope is he will raise spirits as we all go “back to school” after the summer.

Launching from Wednesday 20th September, take a seat in the elegant Wellington lounge and indulge in a decadent selection of handmade treats and savoury delights. 

Start the journey with savoury options, including Newlyn Crab Casserole with Smoked Cornish Caviar Crostini from Martin’s hometown; or try St. Ewe Egg Mayonnaise with Watercress Choux, sourced from a multi award-winning free-range egg producer nestled on the Roseland Peninsula in Cornwall.

Jam comes before the cream with Saffron Raisin Scones, followed by sweet treats including a centrepiece chocolate artwork depicting ‘A fish sale on a Cornish beach’ by British artist Stanhope Alexander Forbes, a founding member of the influential Newlyn school of painters.

Other delights come in the form of the Duchess of Cornwall Hat with Blackberry Meringue, Cornish Fairings Mousse and Newlyn Blackberry Mead Jelly, inspired by Catherine Middleton’s hat; and a Cornish Apiaries Honey Cake with Crème Fraîche, created with Martin’s uncle in mind, who was a honey producer. Gavin Malleappah, formerly part of Vivek’s kitchen brigade at The Cinnamon Club, will delight guests with a modern twist on a traditional Sri-Lankan dish, serving black pork belly curry with string hoppers, whilst Cinnamon Kitchen’s Raju Ramachandran’s is cooking up his signature dish of Chettinad spiced lamb chops.

This October, Art for Youth London will return to the prestigious Mall Galleries to host the largest annual event in support of the charity, UK Youth; a leading charity with a vision that all young people are equipped to thrive and empowered to contribute at every stage of their lives. 

Now in its 35th year, Art for Youth’s exhibition is taking place between the 3rd and 6th October 2023, having become a firm fixture in the London art calendar; attracting more than 1,800 visitors and showcasing over 1,000 works of art by hugely talented emerging and established artists.

From bronze, ceramics, prints, photography, sculpture and jewellery as well as many unique and original paintings, everything displayed at the exhibition is available to purchase or order. This year Art For Youth hopes to see the funds it has raised to date for UK Youth exceed £2 million and continues to offer a special environment to unite artists from around the country for the week. UK Youth’s patron, HRH The Princess Royal has also been known to visit. 

The doors of the Mall Galleries will open from Tuesday to Friday night from 6pm – 9pm (8.30pm finish Friday) and will have free entry between 11am and 4pm during the day from Wednesday to Friday to view the artworks. Passport dishes await. A taste of Catalonia comes to you from Six by Nico from the 25th September to 5th November. The new menu will transport guests across the continent to catch the last of the summer sunshine in the beautiful Spanish region of Catalonia, transporting the culture and vibrant tastes of this historic region, from Barcelona to Girona, and everything in between, straight to diners’ plates.

Art and creativity in the kitchen lie at the heart of the Catalan culture and is therefore an essential element of Six by Nico’s new tasting menu, which not only draws inspiration from the region’s classic dishes and cooking techniques, but also celebrates the region’s most prolific figures, from artists, to architects and fellow chefs. Each dish on the new menu reflects the unique heritage of this captivating destination.

The new six-course offering highlights a range of iconic dishes including an amuse bouche of Patatas Bravas, a first starter celebrating Gaudi of chicken arrollado, hen of the woods, black garlic, hazelnut pesto, bergamot, lovage and mustactel, which moves onto the second starter, namedEl Bulli in honour of the famous restaurant and chef Ferran Adrià, which is a Pan Con Tomate with heirloom tomato, extra virgin olive oil and smoked salt.

For the fish course, we have Arroz Negro – the classic rice dish typical of the region with black pollock, pickled mussel, black rice cake, saffron emulsion, courgette and shellfish cappuccino and for the main course Pork Barbacoa, featuring the belly and cheek of pork, sobrasada, white bean ragú and red pepper esquitxat. To satisfy your sweet tooth, the menu presents a scrumptious Crema Catalan of burnt vanilla crème, poached prune and honey and fennel seed.

The Stafford London Launches New Afternoon Tea Served from a Bespoke Handcrafted Cake Trolley




Another one for the afternoon tea crowd. The Stafford London, renowned for its timeless elegance and exceptional hospitality, is launching a sophisticated new afternoon tea on 31 July. 

Differing from the usual cake stand experiene, the new afternoon tea will be served from a brand-new bespoke cake trolley for an added sense of theatre and occasion, and to allow guests choice with their preferred cakes and pastries. 
The new recipes have been created collaboratively by Magdalena Velczenbach, The Stafford’s Head Pastry Chef, and Lisa Goodwin-Allen who oversees the menu direction at The Stafford as well as being Executive Chef of Michelin-starred Northcote in Lancashire.  

To start, sandwiches and scones will be served on a traditional cake stand, alongside coffee or a selection of fine teas from Camelia’s Tea House. Delicate finger sandwiches will include H. Forman & Son smoked salmon with horseradish crème fraîche on granary bread and Honey roasted ham and mustard mayonnaise on onion bread, alongside a Truffle egg bun. Plain and fruit scones will be served with whipped clotted cream and strawberry jam, alongside a savoury delight: Westcombe Cheddar scone with soft cheese and chives.   Of course, this experience centres around the sweet stuff.

The new cake trolley will be presented tableside, with each guest able to select five seasonal cakes or pastries from the display. These may include Raspberry, apple, and elderflower macaroon; Coffee choux bun; Vanilla and raspberry white mouse; Lemon and basil tart; and Cherry and coconut mousse. Guests will also be able to sample a slice of the showstopping signature Earl Grey and honey layer cake.

The menu takes inspiration from Georges Rahme, the acclaimed Lebanese chef based in IHG Hotels and Resorts in Dubai’s Festival City and features a myriad hot and cold mezzeh, signature plates and exquisite desserts. Recently opened Langbourns, from the Metropolitan Pub Company, has announced the unveiling of its summer menu – and it’s ideal for a feast following a tough day in the office. The restaurant, which is opposite Leadenhall Market and features its very own oyster bar, will offer a refreshed and refined selection of dishes, catering to a diverse range of culinary preferences. 

The new menu starts with a range of appetisers such as the distinctive Black pudding Scotch egg with burnt onion ketchup, Anchovy on toast with cured lemon & dill oil and Truffle & Prosociano arancini. Not to be overlooked is the freshly baked sourdough, served with either roast bone marrow or seaweed butter, as well as the oyster bar.

Langbourns is known for its fish and seafood, and have included a Classic Crayfish and prawn cocktail, Salmon tartare, and Seared scallop, to name just a few, with options for vegetarians and vegans too. Mains are an array of both meat-based and seafood dishes, including Braised beef cheek & seaweed suet pudding, Dry aged rack of lamb, and Pan-fried Sea bass fillet.

For the carnivores, indulge with the impressive Grill section of the menu, featuring Scottish beef that has been dry aged for 35 days in state-of-the-art ageing chambers. Pull up a plate for the Summer BBQ Series with Big Green Egg at The Standard 


Summer means one thing – BBQ season. It’s heating up in Double Standard’s garden this summer for a three-week-long BBQ series arriving in July. Bringing world grilling action from cult status chefs, Big Green Egg is helping to cook up a storm in a BBQ hideout for those in the know, right in the middle of King’s Cross.  

Hidden away from the bustle of the street, curious passers-by are sure to be lured in by the smoke signals and mouth-watering scents from world BBQ culture. Including the Caribbean, Indonesia and the Deep South, guests can join in the oasis like secret garden at Double Standard, The Standard, London’s American-meets-British ground floor bar and restaurant, known for its hearty fare and 70’s inspired interiors.  

Kicking off the summer BBQ series, is Riaz Phillips, author of West Winds and Bellyfull, and known for some of the spiciest collaborations in town. Warming us up for a long hot summer, Riaz is bringing his signature vibe north with his cookout Caribbean menu. Babur,
 the jewel in South East London’s culinary crown, is celebrating its 38th birthday with a unique flavour-fuelled tasting tour of the forgotten region of Bihar. In true Babur style, the family-run restaurant’s latest milestone is cause for both celebration and exploration. An excuse to delve further into the lesser-known regional cuisines of India and showcase dishes that are deep-rooted in the country’s food culture. 

Bihari food is one of the rustic styles of cuisine in the north-eastern part of India. Characterised by its prominent use of several spice blends and cooking methods from charring and one pot to slow cooking, Bihari is considered a unique soul food of the country.

Creating the perfect summer excursion for the senses, Babur’s new Taste of Bihar menu, available from 20th July to 17th September, includes starters of: Litti & Chokha, a cult classic from the region that is essentially an ancient Indian version of a dough-ball stuffed with spiced roasted gram flour and ghee then charred over charcoal and served with charcoal roasted spiced aubergine, red onion, and tomato salsa. Madhubani fried fish coats cod cheek fritters with spices of roasted cumin and black peppercorn, alongside mint and pickled baby onion.

Mains transport you through local villages with Dehati Chicken, Swede chokha, a rustic chicken thigh curry layered with flavours of black peppercorn, cardamon, and pink onion. Champaran Gosht, Sattu paratha is hot and spicy dish of kid goat on the bone, slow cooked into clay pot with rustic garam masala and whole garlic; while Dudhi ki tokri, stuffed courgette blossom is a veggie’s delight with chargrilled courgette tart, spiced soft cheese and turmeric rice water.

For dessert, there’s only one extra special option, Makahne ki Kheer, caramelised lotus flower – a dreamy, creamy condensed Lotus flower pudding made with evaporated milk, green cardamom, rose and caramel.

Sink your teeth into seafood at Manzi’s




Oh man. Manzi’s, the long-awaited restaurant from The Wolseley Hospitality Group, will officially open its doors in the heart of Soho at the end of June, serving the very best in seafood and fish. Manzi’s is due to bring hedonistic escapism to its new location in a relaxed, timeless setting.

The new iteration of Manzi’s will pay homage to its much-loved forefather, a restaurant which famously served Londoners off Leicester Square for more than half a century. The menu, harking back to the acclaimed dishes of old, encompasses everything from moules marinière, a wide range of crustacea and a ‘catch of the day’ to a classic Dover sole. Also on offer à la carte will be stuffed Calamari in tomato saucefried Violet artichokes with sauce gribiche, Severn & Wye smoked eel placed over horseradish cream, seafood cocktails and a New York Shrimp Burger served with spiced mayonnaise.

Manzi Specialities, showcasing the expertise and creativity of the kitchen, bring to life the essence of Soho; fun, heart-warming dishes to enjoy with friends and family. A Monkfish Wellington, designed to be shared between two or four people, will see perfectly cooked monkfish encased in flaky, golden pastry served with a prawn mousse and dill beurre blanc. The Cioppino Fish Stew, combining the finest seafood with lightly poached fish and calamari in a hearty tomato sauce, is also offered as a single serving displayed on an oversized, decadent platter with grilled sourdough and rouille, perfect for mopping up its rich juices.
