Road trip, anyone? Gleddoch Golf & Spa Resort’s extensive multi-million-pound project includes one of the largest outdoor sauna’s in the UK, plus a host of other luxurious wellness spaces, top notch fitness facilities and glamorous detailing

Gleddoch Golf & Spa Resort, one of Scotland’s most iconic privately owned estates, has revealed the first look of the luxurious transformation of its Imperia Spa.

Opened this June, the multi-million-pound project, including one of the largest outdoor sauna’s in the UK, promises to bring a bold new era of luxury spa experiences to Scotland, blending Gleddoch’s rich heritage with world-class wellness and indulgence.

Set in 350 acres of countryside with panoramic views over the Clyde Estuary and Renfrewshire hills, The Imperia Spa is inspired by Gleddoch’s history as the former home of shipbuilding magnate Baron Lithgow. The interiors take cues from the golden age of travel with black marble, antique gold, crystal details and quilted textures creating an atmosphere of pure indulgence.

Thermal & Relaxation Experiences

A true standout is the UK’s largest outdoor sauna, offering panoramic countryside views all the way to Ben Lomond, allowing guests to enjoy the benefits of thermal heat while surrounded by natural beauty.

In addition, guests can benefit from other immersive thermal experiences designed to soothe and revitalise. Highlights include the warm and the calming Aroma Steam Room and Salt Steam Room alongside a deeply cleansing Pink Himalayan Salt Sauna. For complete relaxation, heated loungers provide the perfect space to unwind overlooking the estate to the estuary.

Wet Facilities

At the heart of Imperia Spa is a showstopping indoor pool in shimmering antique gold and obsidian black, surrounded by elegant relaxation spaces.

Guests can unwind in the soothing warmth of the outdoor Hydrotherapy Pool or experience invigorating contrast therapy in the Ice Fountain, Sensory Showers and Cold Plunge Pool.

Wellbeing Studio and Fitness Suite

Fitness facilities at Gleddoch have been designed to offer guests a complete approach to wellbeing. The state-of-the-art gym features the latest Technogym equipment, a dedicated free weights area, and Peloton bike for immersive, on-demand training. In the Wellbeing Studio, guests can join a variety of instructor-led classes, from yoga and Pilates to strength and conditioning, providing something for every fitness level and interest.

Treatments & Facilities

Guests will find seven luxurious treatment rooms, and dedicated sanctuaries for pre- and post-treatment relaxation. Signature treatments will be provided using world-class product partners including Natura Bissé, Elemis, Temple Spa, and Ayurvedic specialists, Tri-Dosha.

Spa Moments

Taking inspiration from the far-flung destinations once visited by Baron Lithgow’s ships, Imperia Spa’s carefully curated spaces include the Palm Room orangery filled with rare palms and The Veranda, an elegant open-air lounge with a Moorish twist. Throughout the guest experience, moments of delight await — from the soft strains of Chopin to fresh mint towels and the scent of Persian jasmine in the air.

Gleddoch Hotel & Spa Resort General Manager, James Anderson, said: “Every detail of Imperia has been designed to surprise and delight, creating an escape unlike anything else in Scotland. This is not just a spa; it’s an experience where indulgence, heritage, and contemporary wellness meet.”

With its seamless blend of Scottish charm and international glamour, Imperia Spa at Gleddoch is set to become a standout destination in the UK’s prestigious spa scene.
