The family-run boutique hotel Dunstane House in Edinburgh has joined the luxury collection of independently-owned UK hotels
You can’t beat a classic. Located in Edinburgh’s West End, just 10 minutes’ walk from the city centre, Dunstane House is a refined and contemporary-in-style five-star hotel .
Housed in a Victorian town house dating back to 1865, the propertyhotel boasts 16 newly-refurbished bedrooms (including four Suites) featuring handmade Vispring beds with Egyptian cotton bedlinen, velvet Chesterfield sofas, Persian rugs, original Scottish artwork and (of course) Nespresso coffee machines.
Each of the four suites – named Orkney Suites, referencing the owners’ family roots – boast four-poster beds, decadent freestanding copper roll-top baths or wonderful views across the city.
The newly-opened Ba’ Bar & Lounge provides relaxed all-day Scottish dining, with dishes including:
• Crispy Campbells haggis bonbons with Glenkinchie single malt whisky and Arran mustard mayo
• The Dunstane Burger topped with mature Orkney cheddar and Scottish Blue Murder cheese
• Warm chocolate and frangipane tart with clotted cream.
There’s also a tempting afternoon tea on offer, along with Hendrick’s Gin or Joseph Perrier Champagne options.
The Ba’ Bar has an extensive list of fine wines, premium craft spirits and beers. No Scottish hotel could be complete without a whisky selection, and Dunstane House offers over seventy varieties, including some rare single malts and blends.
There’s also a variety of whisky and cheese tastings, martini masterclasses and cocktail making classes to enjoy as well.
