Well, there’s no denying it. Winter’s here. It’s announced itself like an unwanted relative, arriving on our doorstep with bags of blustering wind and suitcases of snowy slush. It’s time to say goodbye to summer wardrobes and hello to layers, layers and more layers.
But just because it’s cold doesn’t mean we have to stay confined to jeans and giant sweaters. (Though trust me, I do love a giant sweater.) Instead, there’s plenty of ways to still wear your favourite skirts and remain frostbite free. All it takes is a little colour coordination, cosy coats and some creative thinking.
So – here’s my take on the ‘winter versus skirt’ battle.
To battle the cold, I paired a burgundy Brandy Melville skirt with a pair of thick tights, added a simple black vest and then layered a Topshop striped polo neck over the top.
TIP: Choose skirts made of thicker material (this one’s corduroy) and avoid any light fabrics that might fall victim to the wind. You’ll keep your warmth (and your dignity).
I then mixed up my dark colour scheme with a camel Topshop coat and burgundy Zara tote. Plenty of layers and long sleeves are the key to warmth!
To complete the look, I wore this adorable pair of laced up Topshop flats and a gold H&M bangle.
Simple but still warm. There’s no need for our skirts to go into hibernation just because it’s winter!
Hope you’ve enjoyed.
