Undeniably a gourmet destination, with 242 Gault Millau points across 17 restaurants, Zermatt has a higher concentration of top restaurants than anywhere else in the Alps.

An unmissable exploration of world-class flavours and tastes, the annual festival sees a number of Michelin chefs join forces to offer pure culinary brilliance. With so much on offer during the event, here’s a taste of what foodies can try during their Swiss escape.

Festival highlights include…

1 Feasting upon gondola fondue
Take a ride up the mountain via a gourmet gondala – where guests are invited to try delicious cheese fondue as they glide past the Matterhorn. Pair this famed Swiss dish with refreshing wines from the Valais region, as well as a range of mains and desserts.

2 Starting the day with a gondola breakfast
Forget the standard table experience. Try breakfast the gourmet way with a 70-minute return adventure from Zermatt to Trockener Steg aboard a scenic cable car. As well as panoramic views, there’s plenty of fresh dishes to devour.

3 Trying world-class cuisine at a Kitchen Party
Watch your favourite chefs in action as Zermatt’s top chefs whip up unique dishes in front of a live audience.

Watch in fascinated awe as the chefs prepare a range of regional dishes at different cooking stations – before the creations are served together (along with outstanding wines) following the demonstrations.

4 Hike the Horugüet way
Adventure lovers and nature worshippers, don’t even think about missing this special day out. Taking place on the first Saturday of October, don your walking boots and join the culinary hike that takes place in Zermatt, surrounded by beautiful mountain scenery.

No ordinary trek, the hike passes by six mountain restaurants – where each pitstop involves regional specialities and tempting local treats.
