Insider’s Look At Le Cordon Bleu’s New City Dining Destination

Sacre bleu! Famed Le Cordon Bleu, the largest global network of culinary and hospitality schools, is launching their new dining concept in the City of London this spring

Part of a unique offering all under one roof, CORD by Le Cordon Bleu is a gourmet cuisine lover’s dream – featuring a fine dining restaurant, a café and an outpost to the London Le Cordon Bleu culinary institute.

Interiors come courtesy of LXA, conjuring a blend of the bold and the understated, with contemporary, statement light installations paired with a refined palette of colours and modish materials.

The brand identity is informed by a 17th century Parisian design that uses geometry and grids at its core. This geometry has been celebrated in the “C” brand marque that forms a statement feature, greeting guests as they enter the restaurant.

Open for lunch and dinner, Monday to Friday, the 90-cover restaurant will showcase varying menu offerings: from dinner tasting menus, through to the daily a la carte and accessible weekly changing set lunch menu, priced at £25 per head.

The menu is set to feature the likes of: Heritage Tomato Carpaccio served with creamy Buratti, faille de brick, Manchego and Lampung pepper; Smoked Rainbow Trout accompanied with fennel, pomegranate, apple and yuzu; Poached Dover Sole and lime presented with leek, rate potato, wild garlic and seaweed and Anuria Milk-Fed Lamb from the Pyrenees with polenta, sea herbs and broad beans.

An eclectic and extensive wine list will also be on offer with an impressive selection from French vineyards as well as Germany, Italy, Spain and the New World.

A host of biodynamic and organic wines will be readily available alongside a range of spirits and brandy for the more discerning drinker.  Diners to CORD can opt for select wine pairings and alcohol-free tea pairings with their food, delivering something to suit all tastes and occasions.

Open for breakfast and lunch, Monday to Friday, Cord Café is a more casual dining outpost.

The 30-cover eatery is set to serve French patisseries and viennoiseries (Cinnamon croissant, Raspberry flower danish and Cardamom knot, all baked fresh on site daily) alongside gourmet sandwiches, fresh salads, homemade soups and artisan breads.

Le Cordon Bleu Institute

Staying true to its roots, the new opening will of course feature Le Cordon Bleu’s culinary institute. Enjoy short courses for aspirational chefs in worldwide cuisine, food & wine pairing and patisserie, led by expert chefs.

Le Cordon Bleu will also host corporate short courses, ideal for team building, followed by a meal in the restaurant.

Commenting on CORD, Le Cordon Bleu CEO & President, Mr André J. Cointreau said: “This year is a milestone for Le Cordon Bleu as we celebrate 125 years of excellence in teaching around the world and prepare ourselves to launch CORD by Le Cordon Bleu.

Now more than ever, there is a call for consistency and quality which is what we aim to deliver at CORD, bringing together unique techniques and the freshest, best-in-season ingredients across worldwide cuisines.

Our guests will join us on a voyage to experience first-hand the exceptional level of skill and evolving culinary art form delivered by the masters of industry at the same time receiving an expert service level of traditional hospitality in a relaxed setting.”
