Pride of Britain Hotels is proud to announce that Gravetye Manor in West Sussex has been named Pride of Britain Hotel of the Year 2018

The luxury hotel has been awarded the coveted title for delivering outstanding hospitality in all areas including service, accommodation, housekeeping, food and overall luxury.

Located near the pretty village of West Hoathly, yet just an hour from London and 20 minutes’ drive from Gatwick Airport, Gravetye Manor is a Grade I-listed Elizabethan stone mansion set in 1,000 acres of stunning parkland.

There are just 17 bedrooms – named after the variety of tree species found on the estate – all sumptuously furnished with fine antiques and rich floral-themed fabrics.

The hotel is proudly celebrating its 60th anniversary in 2018 and to mark the occasion the hotel’s new dining room will be completed. Designed by architect Sir Charles Knowles in collaboration with interior designer Claire Nelson, floor-to-ceiling windows will blend seamlessly with the hotel’s beautiful flower gardens, providing a wonderful new dining space.

Good news for the gourmands – the restaurant holds a Michelin star under talented Head Chef George Blogg. Menus are seasonal and innovative with many of the fruit and vegetables sourced from the hotel’s impressive Victorian walled kitchen garden and surrounding orchards.

Gravetye Manor’s gardens are much revered and were created by William Robinson, one of England’s most celebrated gardeners, in 1885. Now expertly overseen by Head Gardener Tom Coward and his team of gardeners, the mix of naturalised bulbs and wildflower meadows contrast with more formal areas of the garden, with Robinson’s influences still very much in evidence.

Peter Hancock, Chief Executive, Pride of Britain Hotels, says: “Each year our member hotels are visited by mystery guests appointed by the collection. Gravetye Manor and its dedicated team was found to exceed expectations in every single category – an impressive feat.”
