With a boost of optimism thanks to the ongoing rollout of vaccines, things are looking up for the hospitality industry following the disastrous consequences of COVID-19. Here, we share five new luxury London hotel openings coming to the capital in spring 2021
1 NoMad London, Covent Garden
Opening its rather suave doors in April 2021, mark your diary for a stay at NoMad London, joining the existing portfolio of New York, LA and Las Vegas properties.
The inaugural international outpost for the brand will see the NoMad London hotel draw its inspiration from the colourful past of the building itself – the former Bow Street Magistrates Court in Covent Garden where The Krays and Oscar Wilde stood trial.
With Sydell Group’s Andrew Zobler teaming up with interior design geniuses Roman and Williams, expect a flourishing of antique furnishings and new bespoke pieces, ultimate luxury and underlying mystery with an emphasis on excellence in every sense. Rooms range from classic through to the Royal Opera Suite – highlights include mosaic bathrooms and keyless entry.
Ideal for those who have longed for fine dining during COVID-19, food will feature heavily with Exec Chef Ian Coogan at the helm. Indulge in the glass ceilinged all day dining atrium, or head to Side Hustle for Mexican-inspired sharer plates and agave-based drinks. Last but not least, Library will offer breakfast, lighter bites during the day, with wine and small plates in the evening. Oh yes.

2 The Dilly, Piccadilly
Here’s the deal on ‘The Dilly,’ the new name above the door of the former Le Méridien Piccadilly. The property dates back to 1908, but the transformation over the coming months will see The Dilly become an impressive, modern stay that still retains the character of its past.
Transformation of the property will immediately include a new exterior design to the entrance of the hotel and an extensive lobby refurbishment. The re-design of the 255 bedrooms and 28 suites will be ongoing, although 39 will be completed when the hotel plans to open on 1 April, subject to the reopening date for London hospitality. For those who prefer privacy, a VIP check in area will be located on the mezzanine floor with a private lift to rooms and suites. Dark glasses at the ready.
With many rooms showcasing views over either Regent Street or Piccadilly and the stunning roof tops of London’s West End, the property is ideal for exploring nearby haute hotspots such as Fortnum & Mason is opposite, Europe’s largest bookshop Waterstones and nearby theatreland. The Queen’s pad is also just a short stroll via Green Park away.
London suppliers will be evident throughout from food and beverage suppliers to in-room amenities and specific focusses on interior design. A nod to the hotel’s heritage will be reinstated every evening at 6pm – when the sound of a gong will signify the end of the day and time to let one’s hair down and enjoy the evening. 3 Mondrian Shoreditch London, East London
Another one for the foodies. Accor and sbe have announced an agreement to turn the five-star London hotel, The Curtain, into a Mondrian hotel with a new dining outlet courtesy of Michelin chef Dani Garcia. Slated to open its doors in 2021, this will be Mondrian’s sixth hotel in the global portfolio and a European flagship.
The current property will reopen its doors as the Mondrian Shoreditch London after an update and restyling of the hotel. Meanwhile, The Curtain Members’ Club will continue to operate alongside the re-branded hotel, providing a world-class offering to members.
The opening follows sbe and Accor’s previously announced plan to open 10 new Mondrian properties by 2022 and follows the company’s recent launch of Mondrian Seoul Itaewon. The group will also open Mondrian Bordeaux and Mondrian Cannes in 2021.
The 120-room property sits in the heart of Shoreditch, London’s creative and cultural hub. The reopening will feature several signature food and beverage brands at Mondrian Shoreditch London, including a culinary experience by world-famous chef Dani García.
This will be the first time García, one of the most internationally-renowned Andalusian cooks, will open a culinary experience with sbe in London – so make sure to pack the tastebuds too.

4 The Londoner, Leicester Square
If you’re a fan of boutique properties, you’re in luck. Edwardian Hotels is opening its latest property, The Londoner, in Leicester Square this spring and resulting from in excess of £300 million investment, this is being called the world’s first ‘super boutique’ hotel.
This property will showcase the contemporary design of Yabu Pushelberg across it 16 floors, including subterranean levels that reportedly make it one of the deepest hotels in the world, with 350 guest rooms and suites.
On the foodie front, enjoy a signature Mediterranean restaurant, rooftop bar, gastro tavern, lobby bar and The Residence members club, which is exclusively for hotel guests, as well as two private screening rooms, a fitness centre, spa and event space.
Not only beautiful, it’s also eco-friendly – as a new-build hotel, the property incorporates sustainability innovations that have ensured it exceeds the BREEAM Excellent category in building environmental performance.

5 Montcalm East, an Autograph Collection Hotel
Calling all creatives. Montcalm East, an Autograph Collection Hotel, is set to open in Shoreditch this spring as part of Marriott International’s diverse collection of passionately independent hotels that champion values of vision, design and craft.
Situated in one of London’s most energetic and vibrant areas, the 288-room hotel will feature an all-day dining neighbourhood restaurant from East London restaurant team, Barworks along with bespoke artwork and sleek interiors.
Occupying a prime position between Shoreditch and the City, just a short stroll from Old Street, Montcalm East’s iconic futuristic façade is one of the area’s most striking architectural landmarks.
Heavily influenced by the work of ‘Op-Art’ pioneer Bridget Riley, the exterior acts as an optical illusion, setting the tone for the creative experience even before guest arrival.
Inside the hotel, Shoreditch-based design studio Blacksheep have taken inspiration from the pioneering heritage of the area and the different perspectives that influenced it.
Think geometric shapes, muted colour tones and fresh, calming spaces. Guestrooms are flooded with natural light, with many offering floor-to-ceiling city views for an added touch.
