1 Devour edible enchantment at The Lanesborough

The Lanesborough has been transformed into an enchanted mansion for the festive season, softly sparkling with Christmas décor and winter merriment. The most decadent setting for Christmas lunch, a festive lunch menu is available at Michelin-starred Céleste until 23 December.

Guests will first enjoy roast chestnut, brown butter sabayon and butternut squash velouté or Scottish smoked salmon with exotic yuzu dressing. Next, devour traditional roast turkey or Stone bass roast, ending on a sweet note with Mont-Blanc, glazed Aubenas chestnuts, chestnut cream fondant and blackcurrant gel… or a moreish pecan pie with a crunchy sable, caramelised banana and pecan Chantilly.

Until 30 December, traditional afternoon tea has also been given a sweet festive twist as Head Pastry Chef, Gabriel Le Quang reimagines Christmas classics. Bite into a chocolate Christmas bauble, hazelnut snowball, chestnut and blackcurrant Mont Blanc, a pear and almond tartelette and a traditional Lebkuchen alongside classic scones, jam and clotted cream.

On 8 and 9 December, the festive afternoon tea will also be accompanied by a live carol choir between 15:15 – 17:15. Now that’s music to our ears.

3 Discover an alpine forest with ASK Italian

ASK Italian has transformed its Spice Quay, Butler’s Wharf restaurant into a magical alpine forest, bringing the wintery magic of the Alps directly to South Bank for all to enjoy.

Filled with pine trees, fairy lighting and a snowy finish, it’s the perfect Christmas setting to be enjoyed from now until January 2019.

For those wanting to continue the festivities inside, customers are now able to book the indoor Alpine Snug area, complete with a fairy light canopy and bookable for up to 14 people. Exclusive to the Alpine Snug, diners can opt to request the giant half metre sharing fondue for an impressive sharing  platter.

Visitors can also try a brand new festive menu (available at all sites as a la carte or as themed set menus which start at £19.95/head). New dishes include the Prima Pizza Natale, a mix of pulled pork belly porchetta, roquito pepper pearls, spinach and mozzarella on a tomato base, and Meatballs Piccante Grande – pork and beef meatballs baked on Italian bread in a spicy tomato sauce topped with mozzarella and mascarpone.

Don’t skip dessert – the Golden Marshmellow Cone drizzled in shimmery sour cherry sauce is an absolute must-bite. If that doesn’t tempt, a plate of Nutella-filled Snowball Gnocchi certainly will.

4 Try Christmas with a Chinese twist at Royal China Baker Street

Royal China Baker Street has created a sumptuous three-course menu to celebrate Christmas.  Consisting of an appetising Mixed Hors D`Oeuvres with Vietnamese Turkey Spring Rolls, Crispy Seaweed, Sesame Whole Prawn and Stuffed Crab Claw, there’s plenty to try. 

Guests can then indulge in a range of luxurious main courses including Baked Fresh Lobster with Ginger & Spring Onion, Aromatic Crispy Duck, Stir-fried Prawns & Scallops with XO Sauce, Diced Veal with Wild Mushroom in Black Pepper Sauce, Stir-fried Chinese Broccoli with Ginger Sauce and Special Fried Rice.

If you have room, end the meal with a fruity mango pudding.

5 Experience a unique fusion feast at The Good Egg

The Stoke Newington favourite are teaming up with Edgar Wallace for a festive supper club which sees traditional Jewish favourites merged with Eastern flavours.

The Good Egg, the all-day neighbourhood restaurant famed for its American deli-inspired Jewish cooking, will welcome Edgar Wallace, formerly of KOYA, to host a Chinese JewishChristmas supperclub in its Stoke Newington restaurant, on 21st and 22nd December.

The American-Jewish custom of eating Chinese food on Christmas Day has been around for over one hundred years – and the meals aim to celebrate this tradition.

Starters will include Gefilte Hispi Rolls with Pickled Chilli Dipping Sauce, a Szechuan Noodle Kugel with Smoked Mackerel, Soy Mustard Dressing and Garlic Chives, as well as a Smoked Fennel and Anise Beef Salami with Tofu Mayo and Fresh Horseradish and Scallion Pancakes, while main courses feature a Hungarian Duck and Steamed Brill with sour pickle sauce.

6 Thai it up with Giggling Squid

Just a flavour of what’s to come includes the aptly named Bags of Gold; filled with tender chicken with finely chopped vegetables sprinkled with a hint of spice, wrapped and lightly fried to perfection alongside the Butterfly Prawns with Black Bean Sauce and Giggling Favourite Pork Ribs with Five Spice. Taking centre-stage Pork Cheek with Red Curry and Coconut Tip, Chicken with Thai Herbs and Papaya Salad and the Mix Bean and Young Thai Kale Stir Fry provides a stunning vegan option.

Desserts will never disappoint; the Coconut Pudding made with fresh coconut water accompanied with pineapple and winter berries, makes a refreshing change. The Malted Honeycomb Semi-Freddo and Mango and Lime Cheesecake are also tempting options.

7 Inhale Afternoon Tea at The Stafford

8 Go for gold at Ella Canta

Go for gold at London’s much-loved Mexican restaurant, Ella Canta. Gold has been the main source of inspiration for chef Martha Ortiz when creating Ella Canta’s luxurious new seven-course menu, with subtle hints woven throughout each dish.

Guests will be welcomed with an Into the Gold cocktail, before sampling Corn and cheese gordita, pickled radish, oregano and burnt avocado, and a refreshing Shrimp aguachile with green mango, pineapple and kiwi.

To follow, there will be Corn soup with crispy shallots, popcorn, chives and a necklace of black pearls and golden strings, then Pan fried seabass with red and green pipián mole, roasted courgettes and chayote.

A delicious dish of Pork belly, black bean sauce, pickled chiles and pork crackling will complete the savoury dishes, before guests sample the palette cleansing Raspberry and blackberry sorbet with caramelised golden pumpkin seeds. The journey of golden Mexican dishes will end on a festive sweet note with Cacao churros and eggnog ice cream. I

9 Escape to The Winter Retreat at Regents Place

10 Sip cocktails in the clouds at Sky Garden

As the temperature drops, it’s time to head to the top – 155 metres up, that is. With winter here to stay, London’s favourite city hotspot Sky Garden has had the coolest of festive makeovers with Moët & Chandon.

Sky Pod Bar will be getting a magical Christmas makeover as it transforms into a mesmerising frozen garden until early 2019. Observe the icy winter oasis bedecked in white and gold snow scenes with ice-covered sledges and penguins whilst enjoying a glass of Moët Imperial Brut paired with truffle popcorn.

11 Pay a visit to the Festive Toymaker’s Workshop at German Gymnasium

German Gymnasium has transformed its terrace into a magical toymaker’s workshop in partnership with über-cool gin brand, Monkey 47 this winter.

Complete with warming cocktails and hearty German fare, the cosy spot will be open until the end of January 2019. Enjoy cosy wooden huts, twinkling fairy lights,  vintage toys and of course, warming tipples.

The cocktail menu features bold and flavoursome serves including a hot Mulled Monkey Magic with Monkey 47Pinot Noir, house chinato, cinnamon, oranges and vanilla, and Doll’s House Midnight Delight, mixing Monkey 47, Riesling, lemon, pineapple, Jagermeister Manifest, ground cinnamon and nutmeg.

12 Fill up on a French Family Feast at Roux at Parliament Square

Ready for a little French fancy? Head Chef Steve Groves and his team at Roux at Parliament Square are celebrating the festive season family style. Intended for groups of eight or more, the Christmas Family Feast menu is perfect for feeding hungry relatives.

Each course will be served in large tureens and dishes for the whole family to get stuck into and serve each other. Dishes include Saucisson Lyonnais en brioche, followed by Whole salt-baked Chalk Stream trout with dill butter sauce and fennel. The main event will be a whole Roast Goosnargh duck, carved tableside, and served with brussels sprouts, marmalade stuffing and roast potatoes.

For dessert, a festive Spiced pear and mincemeat dartois will be served with brandy crème anglaise.

16 Tuck into Jean-Georges at The Connaught’s five-course feast

17 Be Weird and Wonderful at Oblix East

Beautiful views and boozy cocktails – what more could you wish for? Oblix East has launched Oblix Wonderland: Weird & Wonderful. The immersive winter installation, in situ from late November, promises to be both weird and wonderful, created in association with Hendrick’s Gin.

Guests to the 32nd Floor of The Shard are cordially invited to wander down the rabbit hole, high up into the sky over the festive period. Filled will peculiar trinkets, knickknacks and more. Oblix East Bar has been transformed into a woodland, with wizened wintery tree trunks at the centre of the room supporting a glowing canopy of white whimsical branches.

There’s also an enticing cocktail menu to try of limited edition serves that draw inspiration from the weird and wonderful theme.
