Join two leading ladies of the London restaurant scene for a must-book six-course collaborative dinner this March
There’s some serious gourmet girl power on the cards this March. Monica Galetti, chef patron at Mere and Nieves Barragan, chef patron at Sabor will be joining forces on the 11 March for a one-off evening to celebrate women in restaurants.
Taking place within the stylish surrounds of Mere, the two titans of the industry will be serving up a six- course tasting menu for guests, starting with a selection of canapes alongside Gran Reserva Cava.
The menu will feature a variety of dishes, drawing on their unique cooking styles and respective New Zealand/Samoan and Spanish backgrounds.
Alongside each dish will be delectable wine pairings, curated by David Galetti, will encapsulate both chefs’ heritage, focussing solely on wines from New Zealand and Spain.
For the first course, Nieves will create a succulent Crisp-fried braised Iberian pig’s head, with mojo verde, veal Jus and quince aioli, followed by Monica’s Scallops with lentils, carrot and pickled celery ragout with guanciale.
For mains, guests can devour Grilled gurnard with cavolo nero and brandy bisque; and Roast Herwick saddle of lamb with glazed sweetbreads, burnt butter mash and Madeira sauce.
Last but not least, dessert is a seasonal affair. First, a Vanilla and lemon curd with candied pistachios, before ending the feast with Yorkshire Rhubarb tartelata with whiskey mascarpone.
