2 Try Rosewood London’s New Art Inspired Tea

Inspired by the upcoming exhibition at the Tate Modern – ‘Yayoi Kusama: Infinity Mirror  Rooms’ – Rosewood London’s very own Mirror Room has launched a brand-new Art Afternoon Tea.

Executive Pastry Chef Mark Perkins, well known for his exceptional portfolio of show-stopping Art Afternoon Teas developed over the past five years, will combine unique Japanese flavours with traditional French pastry and patisserie, to express  Yayoi Kusama’s contemporary works. 

Kusama is renowned for visual and conceptual sculptures and installations that are infused with  autobiographical and psychological content. The impact of her life events can be seen vividly  in her dramatic and bold art, and is the reason she is acknowledged as one of the most important  living artists to come out of Japan.

Her exhibition at the Tate Modern is an immersive  installation that transports guests into Kusama’s unique vision of endless reflections, through  the use of mirrors. Inspired by Kusama’s work, Perkins and his talented pastry team will serve  the afternoon tea in the aptly named Mirror Room at Rosewood London. With both classic  pastries and complex flavour profiles influenced by Japan and Kusama’s bold and complex  artworks, Perkins has created a selection of desserts to bring the artist’s works to life in cake form

The Yayoi Kusama Art Afternoon Tea will comprise three courses: traditional sandwiches,  classic pastries, followed by truly incredible Kusama inspired cakes. 

The three pastries celebrating Japanese flavours will be a visual delight for guests. Presented as  a trio, the pastries will include: The Tonka Caramel, Peach and Jasmine macaroon and Cherry Blossom cheesecake.

4 Get ready for a LIFT with Core Collective

Boutique gym, Core Collective is opening its luxe studios again on 17th May and also introducing a brand new class to its already dynamic schedule. LIFT will be taught at Knightsbridge and St John’s Wood studios once the doors reopen for classes.

After the huge popularity of the class, which debuted on the online zoom timetable during lockdown, the gym has decided to make it a new permanent in studio fixture, helping to maintain fitness levels and increase strength. 

LIFT will help sculpt, tone and build endurance while focusing on slowing the movements down in these challenging and satisfying sessions, using dumbbells and kettlebells. LIFT will be afocused class where trainers hone in on form and movement patterns.

The class will target all major muscle groups and build strength, leaving you feeling refreshed, fitter and stronger after a great all-round workout. Core have created LIFT to provide an option focussed purely on strength training and the benefits it brings: increased longevity, increased bone density, feeling stronger, better muscle tone, better heart health.

5 Pay a visit to Mr Fogg’s Secret Garden

As well as a rose garden, guests can discover the Tanqueray Orangery, where guests will be transported to a country orangery. With walls adorned in blossom and oranges, it will be hard to believe you are sipping a Tanqueray Dry Gin and Franklin & Sons Indian tonic in the heart of the country’s capital city. 

Be sure to look out for Mr Fogg’s Potting Shed where an abundance of libations rather than lavender can be found – in the formed of rupples such as Free as a Bird with Don Julio Blanco tequila, Aperol aperitif,fresh grapefruit and lime juice, agave syrup, topped up with Franklin & Sons pomegranate and hibiscus soda and the Blooming Spritz with Ketel One Botanical Peach & Orange Blossom spirit, sparkling wine and Franklin & Sons 1886 soda water.

6 Relax and rejuvenate with 45 Park Lane’s new luxury wellness space 

Calling all wellness worshippers. Dorchester Collection’s vibrant and luxurious Mayfair hotel, 45 Park Lane, is set to launch  The Spa at 45 Park Lane as part of the hotel experience from May 17, 2021.

The 10,000 sq. ft. spa will  feature Park Lane’s longest pool at 20 metres, as well as a personal training room and spacious state of-the-art gym. Pampering spa treatments will be by Valmont and Aromatherapy Associates.  

The wellness space is part of Mayfair Park Residences, the recently completed development delivered  by ultra-prime developers Clivedale London located next door to, and serviced by, 45 Park Lane.  Guests of the hotel will have full use of the facilities as part of their stay experience, which include  separate sauna and steam rooms, a hydrotherapy pool and private changing and shower rooms.  

Designed by Jouin Manku, the wellness space has been specifically created to bring a sense of the  outside in, referencing artistic flora using traditional Roman style mosaics from Venetian artisans. 

The relaxation lounge connected to the pool allows guests to unwind before or after a work-out, spa  treatment or swim. Within the lounge is an open fireplace with a menu of healthy dishes by 45 Park  Lane’s Executive Chef Jamie Shears.  

Tailored personal training programmes can be created for guests, with both one-to-one and family  group sessions available to book in advance. The expansive gym features the latest Technogym  equipment with dedicated ‘cardiovascular’ and ‘strength’ areas.

7 Bite into BIBO at Mondrian Shoreditch London

This summer will see the anticipated arrival of the Mondrian Shoreditch London, with it, welcoming world-renowned Chef Dani García’s first culinary concept in the UK, BIBO a lively, urban space for casual lunches and spirited dinners, bringing García’s world-class dining to Londoners for the very first time. 

Located on the Lower Ground Floor of Mondrian Shoreditch, the latest property from Mondrian, a leading brand within the Accor group, BIBO will be three Michelin-Starred Chef Dani García’s fifth restaurant for the concept, joining BIBO Marbella, Madrid, Tarifa, Doha and Málaga. Each BIBO restaurant combines García’s rich Andalusian heritage with the techniques and ingredients of each BiBo location to create dishes which are renowned and well-loved around the globe; BIBO at Mondrian Shoreditch will be no exception.

8 Head for a world-class cocktail at The Langham

Reopening on the 20 May at The Langham, London will be the acclaimed Artesian bar, currently ranked in the World’s 50 Best Bars.  

The Artesian team has been hard at work whilst in lockdown, creating a brand-new menu of sips and serves ready to welcome customers once again. The new menu is called Connections and is inspired by shared experiences that have brought the nation together over the past year. 

The menu comprises of 18 drinks in total and is divided up into five sections, each with its own identity. Kicking things off is the ‘Wellness & Mindfulness’ collection where the drinks are of a lower ABV and some completely free of alcohol. A number of the drinks also feature key wellbeing ingredients such as CBD and Kombucha and of course, are still just as delicious as their alcoholic counterparts.

Example drinks include the Stoicism Spritz – a blend of Acorn dry, Pineapple Weed Cordial, London Essence Peach and Jasmine Soda. The signature Banana Bread 1933 is a nod to the all too familiar 2020 lockdown bake which dominated kitchens and social media feeds up and down the country. Many people turned to baking as an escape and mindfulness technique so it seemed only fitting to include it! The team have combined Rye Whiskey, Oloroso Sherry, Banana Monin, Ground Spice, Cocoa Butter, Burnt Toast and Vanilla to create a delicious, shared lockdown memory in liquid form.

10 Picnic with El Pirata 

Popular Mayfair Spanish restaurant El Pirata has launched their Picnic in the Park experience offering a selection of delicious tapas hampers for two or more with the option of Cava and Spanish wines.

On a meat-free mission to provide unbeatable products to vegans and non-vegans alike, the brand-new butcher is now open seven days a week in Selfridges Foodhall. With both a butcher’s counter and a deli menu available, the slab is stocked with plant-based products, mind-blowing mock meats and vegan home cooking staples alongside a range of to-go hot and cold American diner favourites. 

New products for Selfridges include charcuterie favourites such as meat-free Mortadella and Merguez, alongside cold cuts such as spiced pastrami and peppered salami, weighed and sliced at the counter. 13 Indulge with the Best of Frenchie tasting menu

Covent Garden’s modern French destination restaurant – Frenchie – is reopening for indoor dining on 17 May and celebrating its (belated) fifth birthday. To mark the occasion, Frenchie is launching a brand-new tasting menu featuring five of their most-loved dishes – welcoming Londoners back for indoor or terrace-side dining in the beating heart of Covent Garden.  

Frenchie’s Chef Patron Greg Marchand – famed for his use of traditional French techniques and international flavours – has cherry-picked five of Frenchie’s classic dishes to create a Best of Frenchie tasting menu (£70). The tribute menu features five quintessentially ‘Frenchie’ dishes: each carefully crafted using the very best produce of the seasons, delicately balanced and picture-perfect.  

The Best of Frenchie menu kicks off with Greg Marchand’s signature Bacon Scones with Maple Syrup & Cornish Clotted Cream. To follow there’s Foie Gras Pressé, Smoked Eel, Beetroot & Horseradish and Seared Cornish Turbot, Crab Bisque, Burnt Grelot Onion, Lovage Oil & Fresh Peas. For mains it’s Wooley Park Farm Duck Breast, Baby Carrots, Rainbow Chard & Za’atar. 14 Pull up a pew at family-friendly AT feast restaurant

AT feast offers all-day dining using sustainably sourced ingredients, cookery workshops for all ages, a retail space and a ‘grab and go’ bar for coffee and nutritious snacks, in the heart of St John’s Wood London.

Created by Maggie Bolger, AT feast marks the first of her new, local neighbourhood restaurant destinations for all ages. AT feast will be housed within b_together; a thoughtful, beautifully-designed family destination and neighbourhood hang-out for all age groups. 

Maggie and her team have created nutritious, wholesome, seasonal menus packed with feel-good sharing dishes, light-bites and deli offerings, and have worked to ensure the menu is as close to zero waste as possible through innovating recipes and reusing food scraps that would normally be thrown away. Local suppliers that have sustainability at the heart of their businesses will provide ingredients for the menu, as well as the retail space. 

AT feast will serve fresh, vibrant and wholesome fare from a seasonally changing menu. The menu will consist of Small, Light, Main and Sweet Eats all designed to share. Dishes will include; Top to tail tempura veg with sticky vegetable soy, Broccoli margarita flatbread with secret tomato sauce, Green goddess kale, pea and ricotta fritters, Meatless shepherd’s pie served with a garlic root mash, a Zero-waste daily burger, and a Dukha and chia crusted salmon. 

The cocktail menu will continue to champion the AT feast zero waste ethos, with tipples including a Gin Campari Sour using the leftover egg whites from the production of the Cambridge Burnt Cream dessert and topped with grated burnt toast to add texture and a smokey flavour.

AT feast will also house a Cookery School for children and adults alike. The cookery classes will include brunch, bake and a supper club for babies to teens.

15 Try show-stopping cocktails at Oblix at The Shard

Oblix at The Shard is delighted to announce it will reopen on Wednesday 19th May, complete with a new cocktail menu, available within their cocktail bar and lounge, Oblix East. The new cocktail menu will join a considered selection of luxurious bar dishes, from executive chef Marcus Eaves, as well as the Afternoon Tea and Oblix Easy set menu which have been refreshed to include a selection of seasonally inspired dishes.

Designed by global beverage director for Zuma & Oblix, James Shearer, the new cocktail menu is inspired by classic cocktails with a focus on elevating these through the use of premium, well-sourced ingredients and innovative finishing touches, paired perfectly with Oblix’s eye-catching setting. 

In partnership with CÎROC Vodka, the hero addition will be the Born a Star, Oblix’s take on a celebration cocktail with an elevated twist, comprised of CÎROC Vodka, blood orange, passion fruit and citrus, and topped with sparkling wine, it will be served in a replica of The Shard itself. A showstopper in its own right, the Born a Star will be presented within The Shard at the table, and upon the drink being removed from the replica, it will project a light beam onto the ceiling with the option to create a bespoke message in advance, for that very special occasion. 

The rest of the menu similarly takes flavour profile inspiration from other classic cocktails to ensure they resonate with guests, before the team add a variety of innovative twists. 

Further highlights include the Bubble Gum Martini, with Tanqueray London dry gin, rhubarb, lemongrass, lemon, egg whites and bubble smoke and the Oaxacan Fire Sizzle, which combines Tapatio tequila blanco, reposado and over proof with passion fruit, pink grapefruit, velvet falernum and a caramel nest, with both drinks being finished table-side.

Joining the drinks menu in Oblix East, especially for the reopening, will be three luxurious and supremely photogenic dishes, perfect for sharing. The Churchill Bar & Terrace, the award-winning bar set on exclusive Portman Square, Marylebone, has unveiled a new World of Wanderlust concept menu inspired by the bar team’s own unforgettable travel experiences.

After a year of being predominantly grounded in the UK, and the bar permitted to open for limited periods of time only, the new menu is both a celebration of London reopening and an inspiration for travellers with itchy feet. From gliding over the Himalayas and drifting through remote waterways, to observing one of the natural wonders of the world, the new menu promises to transport guests across the globe, encouraging their own travel memories to resurface and inspire new destinations to add to their travel bucket list.

The interactive, digital menu offers an immersive experience as guests can travel around the globe with the swipe of a finger.

A must-try highlight of the new menu includes Hot Air Balloon in the Maasai Mara, a long, gin-based cocktail dreamt up following a sunrise expedition, drifting above the awe-inspiring landscapes of the Maasai Mara. The use of almond milk and a single tonka bean creates an earthy, nutty flavour whilst fresh, charred corn and zesty lemon peel is enough to transport drinkers to the back-to-nature experience of a safari. Furthermore, for every bottle of Elephant Gin used, 15% of profits are donated to charities dedicated to the conservation of the African elephant.
